No Main Menu Music (Help Wanted)

I reinstalled NV and TTW and my mods and for some reason despite the file being in Data/Music/Special and being referenced in my ini files as essential cache on the main menu no music plays (the music works everywhere else in game, including death). I can live without it but I don't even know why its happening so any help would be hugely appreciated!

The main menu music is in the root directory of NV.

Main menu music is defined in FalloutPrefs.ini. Search for parameter "SMainMenuMusicTrack". In my game this is set to "special\maintitle.mp3", which means "Data\Music\Special\MainTitle.mp3".

thanks for the replies, I have "MainTitle.wav" in the root New Vegas folder, but also in Data/Music/Special there's "MainTitle.mp3", and in my FalloutPrefs.ini I have
SMainMenuMusicTrack=special\maintitle.mp3

still though, no music plays on the main menu

Soundbit inapproriate? I know a lot of radio mods had problem playing if mp3 not to fnv standard. Not all of my mp3 can be played. And something played in agathas wont play on other radios (after changing names)

tested the theory by downloading the F4NV music replacer on Nexus and that didn't play either,
seriously confused about this
