So I'm always pondering this question to myself... I wanted your opinions.
My first thought was to start my next playthrough in the Mojave, and treat Fallout 3 like a giant DLC for New Vegas. This is because I like New Vegas' story and quests more.
But then I watched this video and it's very interesting: Was Fallout 3 meant to take place much earlier?
There was also this Reddit thread from way back when: Was Fallout 3 originally meant to take place before Fallout 1?
And now I'm thinking about starting my next playthrough in DC as it seems to make more sense. Being born early on in DC, a bit of time is implied to pass after taking the train and becoming a Courier in the Mojave. This highlights New Vegas' advancement of society within a logical progression of events, as opposed to starting in the Mojave where things make sense only to go back to DC where everything is chaotic as if the bombs just fell.
What is your opinion? How would you start your next TTW playthrough?

Re: Ideal Wasteland to Start in and Why - Story Timeline
I find the Mojave is easier to start in, as the spawns are more predictable and DT was taken into account in placing them. The Capitol Wasteland is better for a more challenging start, as the random spawns get pretty intense pretty quick. I ran into a Talon Company hit squad on my first quest out of the vault (outside the Super-Duper Mart). The train is also FAR more accessible in Vegas than DC.
Those are all practical concerns though, and yeah, it does make more sense lore-wise to start in DC. Played that way, this mod doesn't actually break the lore at all that I can see.

The story, the designs... all of which seem to want to make f3 much much earlier, 20-30 years after great war.
Yet the official stance is 2 centuries after....
Yes, it feels much conflict.
