Another way to get companions regardless of karma?
So I read the changelog and I noticed the charisma bobblehead's effect will be changed from acquiring any companion regardless of karma to increasing damage dealt and resistance for companions. I was disappointed, really, since plenty of companions in the Capital are given a variety of perks useful on various occasions. Jericho has a portable campfire, Cross increases weight upon wearing power armor, etc. I also wasn't a fan of the way Fawkes, Charon and Cross speaks, especially because these are the only humanoid companions you can get with good karma.
I really hope there'll another way to have the old charisma bobblehead's effect. Maybe in the form of a perk, since that'd be really great.

The Speech Bobblehead will do that instead.

Re: Another way to get companions regardless of karma?
It never made speech challenges easier, all it did was vanilla +10 to speech. It was one of the last Bobbleheads we didn't make a 1/2 perk for, so now it does.
Even if you start with 0 in all your skills in TTW, you can still max them out with all the books and skill points you can get easily. It didn't make sense to have the Bobbleheads still act in that fashion, or increasing specials.

I meant that does the new effect adds alongside with TTW's old effect of making speech challenges 5% easier, or does it replace the old effect?

It won't have 2 effects.
It will only allow to get companions regardless of karma.

Re: Another way to get companions regardless of karma?
Thanks for saying that. I feel like the "no karma requirements for companions" belong more as a perk than a bobblehead.
I liked the speech difficulty decrease the old speech bobblehead has, I know how plenty of players felt about Fallout 3's speech system.
And bobbleheads, as far as I know are meant to be optional collectibles providing small gameplay boosts as opposed to minor skill boosts in the original Fallout 3. The speech/charisma bobblehead felt almost mandatory to get due to various beneficial perks on Capital companions.
