Aim Assist?

Post by LaconicNocturne » Mon Jul 26, 2021 3:49 pm

I recently started playing TTW in the Capital Wasteland, and so far I've noticed that many (maybe all but I haven't tested too extensively) guns have some sort of aim assist when I ADS. I don't remember this being the case when I played FNV vanilla, and was wondering if there is a way to turn it off.

It's extremely jarring because it seems to make the gun gravitate towards enemies by moving it on the screen. Unlike most aim assist systems which move your camera slightly but keep the gun centered. I don't have any controllers plugged in either, so I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

That's Fallout in Bethesda's eyes. The PC version has always had some aim assist. It isn't as bad as it is on consoles, but as far as I'm aware there isn't a way to turn it off. The mods I've seen for it are either really old or are questionable in if they work. The "Game Setting" values these mods alter can all be found in xEdit in the "Game Setting" submenu and begin with the prefix "fAutoAim" if you would like to try your hand at modifying them in your own merge patch or custom esp file.
Produces the programming equivalent of coffee stains.

It's just strange because I don't remember this being an issue at all when I played vanilla FNV two years ago.

I'll take a look at this and see if I can get things feeling normal though, thanks!
