Vendor Flags

Post by pharaon3 » Fri Apr 30, 2021 9:10 pm

Stewie's Tweaks (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66347) has a tweak to force vendors to buy only items related to specific flags.

As far as I know, vanilla FNV doesn't set these flags properly and, to solve this issue, a mod by Qolore7 (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/71512) already exists, but it doesn't support DC vendors.

I'd like to know if TTW (either v3.2.2 or v3.3) sets these vendors flags correctly, for one or maybe both wastelands: I think the feature is interesting, especially since it requires enabling that specific tweak (bBarterCheckActorBuySellFlags) by Stewie to work so, even with vendor flags set properly, it remains completely optional.

No it's not interesting.

We have troubles enough with vendors dont have enough money to pay for our expensive loots.

Now we have to face the possibility of a vendor who have enough caps just refuse to buy our goods because they dont accep those goods? Or that some vendor who never buy our stuffs because who would sell aid-type of items? Thus limit the amount of caps we can acquire. Or increase the time we have to fast travel everywhere to liquidate our goods.

It sounds realistic on paper but terrible in gameplay~

He wasnt asking for your opinion. He wants to know if TTW set's the flags allready.

You'd have to ask Roy about that.

If he want to know, just Megaton alone, the first big town, will provide four or five different vendors to check. Very easy in 10 minutes. Moira (all), 2 diner merchants (food and possibly drugs), clinic (medicine), Gob in Moriarty (drink).

Short answer is no. Merchants TTW322 accept all goods.

The feature only works if you actually enable it in Stewie's Tweaks bud. The flags are all set correctly in TTW and will function if the tweak is enabled using Stewie's. You can crack open the GECK and check yourself if you want.

Oh, did I force him to play with that feature?

Did I suggest it in any way, implied or otherwise, that feature is a good one and he (or anyone else) should play it? :?

So when I ask him to play what he think is a good way to play, that make me a bully now?

About 50 hours in having set that flag since the beginning, and I can confirm all merchants indeed behave as expected. Made me wonder if it would be a cool feature to have merchant investment in Canterbury modify the flag, but nah, I like it as is.

The only quirk (which I think is mentioned in IStewie's INI comments, or maybe the separate ReadMe) is that everyone will buy ammo regardless of the flag. Which, if you find the restriction a bit too severe, will always allow you to circumvent it a bit and make some money.
