Why does Yao Guai medallions need a pencil to cook?

I've never cooked a medallion of meat in real life, at least not yet anyway, but why do Yao Guai medallions need a pencil? lol

Medallions are often on skewers, just like kebabs. The pencil acts as the skewer.

Huh ok...I think I'll remove it as a requirement then since the gecko kebab doesn't require one. Plus I guess my courier don't care about using bare hands to eat
