I recently setup my TTW using The Best of Time guide (https://thebestoftimes.github.io/core.html) and it's mostly been great, but everything from radroach scuttling to Confessor Cromwell's droning has infinite range and always sounds like I'm right next to them. I was going to deal with it, but there's times in the wasteland I hear people asking for help, or Raiders making small talk and I have no idea where they are. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Another person had reported this, it was their audio driver and the fact that other things had installed audio drivers like the nvidia drivers. Remove *all* audio drivers and only install the audio drivers for the device you use for audio.
Additionally, if you ever had that 3D audio mod, or EAC anywhere installed, remove/turn it off.

Hey, thanks for the information. I've gone into Device Manager in the Audio Inputs and Outputs section and removed everything that wasn't a microphone, but I'm still having the issue. Should I also be messing with the Sound, Video and Game Controllers section? I've never had to mess with audio drivers like this before and I'm not 100% sure what I should be doing.RoyBatty wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 6:31 pmAnother person had reported this, it was their audio driver and the fact that other things had installed audio drivers like the nvidia drivers. You still need drivers for your soundcard/onboard sound or headphones. Whichever you are using. Device manager isn't the place to be do doing that, open the audio panel (volume control in your system tray) and check there what devices are enabled.
Your headphones or whatever might be setup up wrong, It's near impossible to say as this is going to be a system specific issue.

Okay, so I've gone in and disabled every output device except for the one I'm using, and I've gone into those settings and tweaked things around a few times, but I'm still having the issue. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?RoyBatty wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 7:37 pmYou still need drivers for your soundcard/onboard sound or headphones. Whichever you are using. Try some cheap external USB audio card if nothing helps.

So I just gave that a try since I had one in my desk. Sound is still infinite, but only from the sides now. Going back to tweaking with my normal setup. There has to be something I can still do to fix this.

Re: Sound has infinite range and it's driving me mad.
So I've tried the external sound card, I've tried disabling and clearing all the audio devices I'm not using, and I've tried to list everything related to this game as an exception to Windows Defender. Both sound cards are Sound Blasters and the main one is a Sound Blaster Audigy fx, which from what I've read can have some issues with NV, but I've certainly never had this problem before. Anyone have any ideas before I delete everything to do with TTW and redo the whole process in the hope of a fix?
