As the title states, I did stupid things with mods that affected LOD and my understanding now is that they are broken for the game as a whole, and not just for that save. (I used a personally converted Taller DCs 4.0, which caused the lod to generate as a glitched purple, and then tried to downgrade to 3.0 mid-game which I understand now broke everything more permanently.)
I've been trying to figure out how to fix the LOD, and I think this post by RoyBatty is supposed to be where I'm looking (assuming it isn't a modder's resource instead of a troubleshooting guide).
"You'll need to copy the sArchiveList to your Fallout.ini either in Mod Organizer 1 or 2 or in the base game folder if you are not using Mod Organizer. You should leave out the archiveinvalidation.bsa from the list, it's important to make sure Fallout - Meshes2.bsa is present"
I'm not sure from where sArchiveList is meant to be copied from. There's the archives text document in the profile folder for MO2, but it has neither archiveinvalidation.bsa nor Fallout - Meshes2.bsa. The archives tab in the MO2 ui does have a Fallout-Meshes2.bsa, but I can't figure out how to use it for anything, and there's still no archiveinvalidation.bsa.
"When you then generate LOD in LODGen you need to set the atlas size to minimum 4096 * 4096 for the main wastelands, if you use additional LOD packs you should probably increase it to 8192*8192
If you use NMC's texture pack, you'll need to the NMC LOD textures from the FNVLODGen nexus page."
I trundled my way over to FNVLODGen before I found your forum post, so I had already figured out that FNVLODGen only has options for fixing FNV worldspaces, not FO3. Since I only care about playing FO3 in TTW, should I be using FO3LODGen? xLODGen with FO3 appended to it? Do I need to download the FO3LODGen esps, and if so should I use the TTW converter on them?
Normally I prefer to just experiment my own way through fixing things, since I don't like bugging mod authors when my own stupidity messes up their stuff, but I have a feeling that I'm in the area of "doing something wrong is liable to make things irreversibly worse" and I feel like I can't start fiddling with actually trying to regenerate the LOD until I find the sArchiveList RoyBatty mentioned. I'm about halfway to writing down my mod list, copying all the .inis, and burning everything to the ground and starting over.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Edit: Solved, kind of. Duplicating the default profiler in MO2 and just reticking all my mods was infinitely faster than fixing the broken profile.
