Freeze question, NVTick Fix

Post by Vlan » Thu Jul 16, 2020 4:10 pm

Hello there,
I got a problem in my game that I haven't been able to fix yet which causes my game to freeze for approximately three seconds as soon as I get near to a certain batch of cells. If I activate this section in NVTick Fix
;This is the equivalent of a very famous tweak in a similar mod to this (Renderer+0x180 suppress) (Hook Critical Section) (experimental) (if your game implodes, we don't know each other).
bRemoveRCSafeGuard=0
the freeze does not occur, but it feels like as if all running scripts are postponed for two seconds (since the Solid Project falling animation did not trigger at a certain jump, but two seconds later), plus this option is causing my game to crash way more often than without.

Somthing I also noticed is:
When saving and loading the game after the freeze, you can notice, that while the game is loading the save, the game also freezes for three seconds during the loading screen.

I just would like to know if you guys have any idea what could cause such a specific freeze (since Renderer+0x180 "fixes" this)? This is the first time I have encountered such a large freeze when loading cells in my 90 hours playthrough. Could it be...

Too much detailed LOD that is getting loaded simultaneously (am using two LOD packs)?
Too much NPC or creatures spawns (am using TLD_Travellers + some other version of more Wasteland critters)?

Any hints would be a blessing.

edit:
NVAC always spouts out this message after the freeze

You're using broken mods. Solid Project is a mess that should not be used.

Solid Project certainly is not the problem here, and frankly speaking, I never had any problem with this mod to begin with.

Solid may not be THE problem, but it is A problem and not compatible with TTW. Don't use it. It's hardly compatible with NV alone and needs serious work. Knowing you have Solid and think it's fine, you probably have many other incompatible mods you think are also fine. Please read the incompatible mod thread. At the very least, go through your mods and disable them to find what's causing the trouble. TTW 3.2.2 on a fresh install doesn't have the problem you state, so you've done SOMETHING wrong. We cannot tell with what little info you've given, other than ignoring us when we state the one mod you mention is incompatible.

The Just series is a very good replacement for Solid.

Turns out that a specific tree from Vurt's tree overhaul was the problem here. Even though the tree itself doesn't have a faulty mesh (tested by the author himself). Was disabling / enabling stuff in suspected cells the last days (after pinpointing the problem to a specific plugin) and found out, that one tree mesh from Vurts plugin is giving my PC headaches. Author himself says that this is impossible, but here I am, seeing it with my own eyes that if I remove or replace this mesh with an older Vurt mesh from a different plugin (Dead Version), the game loads that cell fine.
