Yeah, especially when it could be many other things. Example: some time back, I had trouble with my dual Opteron system crashing when it got busy. It wasn't the temperature, it wasn't the CPU clock, it wasn't any of the common problems... it was the memory voltage. I needed to boost the memory voltage +0.05V to get it stable under load. Your average user is going to have enough trouble diagnosing/fixing a problem like that - you certainly can't count on strangers on a forum to do so.

A friend was having BSOD's on his PC years ago. It was his first liquid cooling attempt and he hadn't properly bled the air out of the system. A bubble formed in the CPU block that resulted in a tiny hotspot. Whenever that spot overheated, BSOD. I was able to fix it for him as soon as I saw it. Shit happens.
