I was hoping someone could make a mod with a script that when you select and energy weapon you can toggle between a stun and kill setting, and link it through ammunition type so things like Fallout classic weapons and such don't need compatibility. For me personally, I want this feature on the rechargers, if only the recharger rifle, with mods from WXE that make it actually competitive.
As full disclosure, the STUN mod does have stun cells you can make but, the weapon has to be able to ake them and there's no switching with recharger rounds.

Re: Stun Setting for energy weapons
My Star Trek Phaser TTW mod has stun ammo. It's pretty easy to do. I suppose I could look at a new energy cell charged for stunning instead of the normal damage done. I would also need to add it to the ammo form lists for different energy weapons. Of course, plasma weapons would need something similar... and other energy weapons that use other types of ammo...

Re: Stun Setting for energy weapons
What are the different types? I thought there was just SEC and MFC and electron and then microfusion breeder.
For reference, I believe that hat the STUN mod has stun rounds for all but the Microfusion Breeder. I KNOW it doesn't have stuns for the microfusion breeders, and my Courier is VERY partial to the Recharger Rifle, even though the pistol is mechanically better.
IF it interests you, and ONLY if it interests you, would you consider making a rifle version of the Hyperbreeder? Same coloration, same mechanics as the hyperbreeder pistol. I mean heck just making that with a permanent stun setting would be all I'd need in the short term. But again, thank you for taking any interest at all.

Re: Stun Setting for energy weapons
Those breeder rounds are a huge pain in the butt to deal with. I had a mod that used a custom breeder, and got so fed up with it that I moved it to "normal" energy cells instead. As to STUN, it's been a while since I last used it. That might be where to start. Don't forget about plasma cartridges. I tend to like the plasma weapons more than the laser weapons... unless I pick up PewPew.

Re: Stun Setting for energy weapons
For my own purposes, I might want to just configure the breeder rounds to stun myself since no other character uses them. Any adivce on how to balance fatigue versus physical damage? Like if the Recharger rifle does 8 damage and I want the same number of shots to take down something as lethal round, should I make the fatigue damage 4 or 2 or 6 or? If you don't know that's A-OK, just asking.

No idea on a perfect balance. I just made my phaser stun ammo do the minimum physical damage and more fatigue damage. Had to keep raising the latter until people got knocked out rather than killed. On low level things in particular, like low-level raiders or mole rats and the like, health is low, so you really gotta go heavy on fatigue damage compared to real damage to stun them.

THat's actually helpful and makes me think the game is not balanced around non-lethal combat, but it turns out STUN has non-lethal breeder rounds but for a specialized gun, Sonic rifle. I remember this weapon and it was shit. Nonetheless I'm gonna take a look at it.

Also, watch out of crits - they often multiply damage, which can end up killing the target instead of stunning them. I had to remove the crits from the phaser and move it to the ammo because with a higher level PC with the wrong perks, stun ammo would nearly always kill on a sneak attack.
