So, I know TTW and Dust are not compatible. I read the FAQ, and I'm not stupid. I also know that I am incapable of doing the hypothetical scenario described, and even if someone did it, it would not be supported in any fashion.
With that preamble out of the way, is DUST's incompatibility with TTW script based, such that they could hypothetically be patched such that you do your Fallout 3 stuff, and when you get on the train to New Vegas it starts DUST instead of base New Vegas, or is the incompatibility more resource/structural based such that even if the scripting changes for starting points could be done, it wouldn't matter because both use the same resources/game functions in fundamentally different ways? I know DUST uses Karma differently, with an insanity metre akin to Call of Cthullu, and short of rewriting a lot of DUST's core functions as new systems it would screw with the Fallout 3 side, but not necessarily break it to the point of unplayability (as far as I understand).
With the fact that this is a purely hypothetical curiosity, is it simply a scripting thing, or are they resource incompatible.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time waste their time explaining this.

Re: Hypothetical DUST Question
I used project NV and extra options.
There's a setting called FEWesque.
It's close to FWE, still brutal but fun.
Well balanced when doing Roy's interiors and a world of pain. (AWOP is brutal).
