Is there an updated guide for a cross wasteland travel door?

I found a thread all the way back to 2014 about a door to cross between wastelands.

Since "TTWFunctions" quest doesn't seem to exist in current builds, is there a new system for switching wastelands? After I've used the train method to cross the first time, is it necessary to use proper paths to cross between wastelands? I want to build a teleport nexus because the train is annoying and I have access to the sink and some alien supertechnology.

As a followup, would a door to DLC areas like The Pitt or Big Mountain need anything different? What about the actual teleport room? Does it matter which wasteland the game thinks I'm in while there?

You can check out how the Transportalponder Extended mod does it. Or you could just use it, since it already allows to teleport to 28 different places . You could always expand that mod with more locations too.
