(SOLVED)Folder "My Games, Fallout NV" is not absolute for location FNV Documents?

Post by idmfan » Wed Jul 17, 2019 12:25 pm

I get this error message when I try to launch the installer.

Besides, my games - Fallout NV folder keeps setting to read-only.

Is it something to do with w10?

I have noticed that using the launcher will set my game inis to read-only in that location. Since Ive been using the plain executable the behavior has not happened to me.

Did you run FO3 and FONV once before installing? You need to launch them at least so that the ini settings files in My Games are created or the installer won't go.

EDIT:

Found the solution. If you use the latest windows 10, but the documents folder and fnv folder there are read-only,
try this. Tick off 'controlled folder access'.

If this does not work, try fiddling with your Antivirus or admin cmd.

Roy or Rise should put this in the FAQ so new TTW users who use the latest w10 don't get confused.
