My Personal Update for 2019 - Spanky Star

Post by Spanky » Wed Jan 23, 2019 8:06 am

I tried installing the 3.2 TTW. What a mess with my own work. Talk about CTD City... I don't know what you guys did to TTW but none of the older mods are compatible if you can even make the 3.2 run for more than a few minutes all by itself. I am going to continue modding and building on the old 2.9 version. There are problems with it but nothing like what is going on with the 3.2 TTW. I think it is a case of being too complicated. I tossed the installer for the 2.9 version a couple years ago. I am still working on a bridge for TTW to the old Project Brazil 1.3.1 version ( BTW, trying to make New California work unless you have a really top of the line graphics capable computer... forget it, too, not happening... like TTW 3.2) and just yesterday I successfully re-scripted Vault 101 as a lucky38 vault. It has some errors but it is the first version to completely work with no bugs across three time lines... and now that I have a idea of how the final script will be put together I should be have a finished bug-free bridge-mod in a few days to a week. I will likely just post it on my cloud... At one time we could attach a zipped .esp file to comments in the forums... too bad you guys at TTW have done away with being able to do that... I suppose being big shots trying to corner the market or stay out of copyright city you are writing yourselves out of fan based support. At this point I have finished a lot of stuff in 2018... but still have a lot to do. Most of it having to do with sound files. Anyway, I am still out here and doing my own thing as always. I think TTW is moving away from the direction I am going with my own Fallout build. So I guess this is like a goodbye. I will miss you guys... I have 5 years of work that will not work on the 3.2 version. I bet a few other modders are in the same boat. I am not going to rewrite 5 years of work to make it compatible with the 3.2 is what I am saying.

If you're having issues, it's your own fault mate. I'm running 3.2 on a 2010 ASUS laptop (i3 2.3Ghz, 4gb RAM, NVIDIA 350M 512M VRAM) and it works just fine, even better than vanilla New Vegas. It's not an optimisation issue. Most likely has to do with you trying to run other mods without proper patches.

It's stated all over the forum, the installation videos, and in the FAQ etc that 2.9 mods aren't compatible with 3.2. So yeah trying to use old mods is usually going to end badly and you were warned about this if you bothered to read first. TTW 3.2 works great and is definitely the best version of TTW yet, it's come a long way since 2014 when I first joined this forum and started using this mod. It was also stated long before 3.2 was actually released that 2.9 and older mods would no longer be compatible with the latest version when it came out.

I believe they did away with directly uploading esp's and zips to the forum due to server costs, so unless you're willing to help pay for the servers when there are many fine free alternative hosting services, that's a stupid complaint.
I suppose being big shots trying to corner the market or stay out of copyright city you are writing yourselves out of fan based support.
What? What even is this bullshit? The mod works great and you seem to have created your own problems by refusing to read about what to do first and then whining when it backfires on you.

Did you even read the FAQ? It literally says most TTW mods made before 3.2 went live would not work and probably crash the game, and the TTW devs said so months before it went live. What you're doing is acting like a spoiled brat.

Yeah man, the TTW team been talking about version 3 for a long long time. If you wasted five years of work it's because you weren't paying attention.

Funny. I've got both of those mods working *together* (with a reasonably simple patch), on a computer I put together 5 whole years ago and which was only mid-tier back then!

You hardly need a god-like GPU to run TTW and/or New California; both mods are made using mostly pre-existing Fallout NV assets from 2010, (or Fallout 3 assets from 2008!) and run using the FNV engine.

The capital wasteland area is pretty demanding, even with an NVMe ssd and XMP'd rams. But definitely more stable and playable than 2.9. I'm sure.

Try lowering down your graphics settings like me.
