Memory error issue? (SOLVED)

Post by nexusmodsforme » Mon Dec 31, 2018 7:51 pm

Ran into a memory error issue while exploring vault 11 specifically attempting to access the overseers terminal. Messaged popped up and I had to Ctrl, alt del to access the message and once clicked had a CTD. If anyone else has run into this or has any idea what this is related to please let me know.

Upon reloading I had no problem accessing the terminal.

Thanks Roy,
I haven't had any additional issues since the problem occurred. Will the update cause problems with my current game? If so I think I'd rather continue playing without it at this point.

No, it won't cause any problems at all. You should update as it fixes several crash problems.

Uhg, so it didn't break the game but now I have a new problem.

So when I restarted the computer while following the instructions in the readme I went to start TTW but steam hadn't finished starting and it came up with a message about this asking if I wanted to launch it anyways. I thought I clicked no but the game launcher popped up anyways. I think this reset something in my ini because now the darnified UI seems to not be working and everything is enlarged. I attempted to reinstall darnified UI but no success. Even the opening page is affected as you can see the quit button is halfway cut off.

Looks like it might just be your startmenu xml being overridden by MCM or PN. Do the rest of the menus and HUD in game look ok?

No the text on everything is ridiculously large.

That happens when the fonts are missing, or the UIO files got swapped wrong.

You may need to uninstall mods that affect the hud entirely, run the game, then reinstall them to fix it.

Moral of the story, always make sure steam is running before starting the game.

Roy you are 100% correct. While I had tried to uninstall and reinstall darnUI I had not launched the game between the uninstall and the reinstall of the mod and for some reason this made a difference. My game UI is back to normal. On the upside my Laptop is once again caught up to the modification of my desktop

PS: Also I found a discrepancy between the laptop and the desktop ini files. The desktop has a Plugins.fnvviewsettings file under the username/appdata/local/FalloutNV but the laptop did not and I was really eyeballing that with suspicion but it doesn't seem to do anything when removed/deleted. Any idea what that is about?

That's the FNVEdit settings file.
