Simple mod that allows you to use your Pre-War Books and Skill Magazines to increase your companions attributes.
Pre-War Books allow you to permanently increase your companion S.P.E.C.I.A.L skills
Skill Magazines allow you to permanently increase your companion skills.
You can target any NPC to see their stats anytime you like, but only companions will let your train them.
Requires:
Fallout NV (TTW 2.94b / 3.2)
NVSE 5.1b2 or Above
JIP 51.6 or Above (older versions of JIP will not work properly)
Install:
1. Extract LetMeTrainYou.esp from archive to your \Data\ directory.
2. Enable LetMeTrainYou.esp in your load order.
3. Play game and enjoy
Uninstall:
Remove LetMeTrainYou.esp from your load order.
Delete LetMeTrainYou.esp from your \Data\ directory.
What it's worth:
Every 10 Pre-war Books Gives 1 S.P.E.C.I.A.L Point
Each Skill Magazine Gives 2 ~ 5 Skill Points
Skill Magazine points increase if you have the Comprehension (+1 point) or Educated (+2 points) perks.
Which means you can be giving your companion up to 5 skill points per magazine if you have both perks.
Skill Magazines permanently increase the skill that it would normally affect (this includes Critical Damage).
How To Train:
You need the Skill Magazines and Pre-War Books in your inventory to be able to give your companions training.
To give your companion training simply look at them and press the Skill Key (Default M key or change the key to your preference).
A menu opens showing you their stats and you can select what attributes you want to spend your Skill Magazines and Pre-War Books on.
Notes:
The companion check is based on playerteammate flag.
So if your companion is not flagged as playerteammate then you can not train them.
The stats menu displays the permanent actor values without buffs.
Adjustments respect the permenant actor value limits of 10 for special and 100 for skills.
Compatibility:
Should be compatible with most other mods as it does not edit or replace any vanilla forms at all.
Should also be compatible with TTW (I use it with TTW 2.94b / 3.2).
The hotkey and menu is event driven, so NO low timed constant polling scripts.
So it should not impact game performance.
Tip:
To make better use of "Let Me Train You" then..
Take the "Voracious Reader" perk as soon as possible (Level 22 and was added by Lonesome Road DLC)
This way you can turn ruined books into Pre-War books and Skill Magazines.
Trivial Dribble:
Using TTW, you can have a blast scavenging FO3 wasteland.
Arlington Library and many other ruined book dumps in FO3.
Prior to adding this mod into my game I would never intentionally:
Take the "Voracious Reader" perk.
Use or craft skill magazines.
Pick up ruined books.
Pick up Wonder Glue.
Look on top of, under and in every nook and cranny for Ruined Books, Wonder Glue and Skill Magazines.
Overall it changed how I would normally play my game (for a little while anyway).
Hope it does the same for you
