i7-6700k
GTX 1080
Asus z170-a
and I'm running FNV and Mod Organizer from an SSD.

I'm actually running Windows 7 Home Premium, I've heard about the issues with Win10, so this is surprising.

NVSE with memory patch, NVAC and I was running NVSR - I'm testing without it and honestly have not noticed much of a difference, I haven't had enough time to play to the point where it would lag yet, but I'll post about anything I find out.

On recent installs of Win7, I haven't been downloading Realtek drivers as it never felt like I needed them. Was this a bad idea?

-- Reading some articles, I thought I was reasonably computer literate, but I actually have no idea if I need sound drivers :lol:
I just use a pretty average usb headset (and have no sound card) and assumed the drivers were bundled with it, like some mouse drivers are.
Do I need Realtek or Nvidia HD audio that they include with their GPU drivers?

You need drivers, chipset drivers and sound drivers yes. You also need to install DirectX9.0c redistributable from june 2010 regardless of OS.

Nvidia sound drivers are just for monitors that have sound, not needed.

USB headsets usually have their own drivers, make sure your headset is plugged into a suitable port (USB 3, or 2).

A reddit user mentioned that OneDrive was screwing with the game, if you have that, try disabling sync.

Codec packs also screw with the games.

Probably unrelated, but in my NV error log I'm getting a lot of these:

Audio: Could not open file Data\Sound\Voice\Zeta.esm\MaleAdult01DefaultDC\DLC05Alien_RadioHello_00003E36_1.wav

Audio: Could not open file Data\Sound\Voice\Zeta.esm\MaleAdult01DefaultDC\DLC05Alien_RadioHello_00003E37_1.wav

Audio: Could not open file Data\Sound\Voice\Zeta.esm\MaleAdult01DefaultDC\DLC05Alien_RadioHello_00003E38_1.wav

Have reinstalled my SBZ drivers and tried the PAX version, so far no noticeable difference. May try removing it altogether and try with the onboard audio.

Having this exact same issue... very weird, can't find a real answer anywhere. How would I install sound drivers I don't have? Realtek doesn't seem to have what i need... Did anyone ever solve this issue?

These are my settings now:

bManageFPS = 1
bHookCriticalSections = 0
bHookLightCriticalSections = 0
bHookHashtables = 0
bReplaceHeap = 0
bReplaceGetTickCount = 1
bLogToConsole = 0
bFastExit = 1
bFlushLog = 1
iSchedulingResolution = 0
bReplaceRandom = 0
bExperimentalStuff = 0
iMainHookPoint = 1

The stuttering is significantly better, but there is still some lag and catch up like this.
Seems to all trigger when I open the pip boy. Very odd. If you listen carefully you can hear the click of the sniper reloading at the end. The video shows 2 instances at the beginning and the end.

The FAQ recommended manage fps off, but it is a convenient way of locking my fps to 60 because I'm on a 144hz monitor. Does that make any significant difference and should I change it?
How would I install sound drivers I don't have? Realtek doesn't seem to have what I need... Can anyone solve it??

Go to your computer, motherboard or laptop manufacturers page and look for drivers for your exact device.

for those who use a ryzen cpu, make sure you download a cpu chipset update from the official AMD website,
even if you installed other updates from the BIOS manufacturers site.

Hey did you ever figure out a solution? I have the same exact problem and I have pretty much exhausted all my options for trying to solve this issue. I notice that this happens more often after explosions occur, particularly car explosions.
