Yeah, texture replacers are just that, replacers. They are usually very different from other types of mods.

One possible problem with the non-availability of the 2.9 mods is that it may make it less likely for new moders to encounter them and get the idea to convert them.

Personally I still play 2.9 mostly because of the companions mods, and I am not very hopeful that someone who knows about them will get to converting them any time soon. Old moders often move on to other games and new ones don't always know what is available.

Not sure what could be done, maybe some indexing with a compatibility status note would help somewhat.

If any authors are claiming their stuff works, point me at it so I can check it myself and either correct them or add it to list of incompatible mods. I'm not playing this game on this version, we had enough problems in the past and I really don't care if it ruffles feathers at this point.

Awesome; thanks for all the work you've put into this.

On a side note, if anyone else knows, would the same rule of thumb that applies to texture replacers pertain to the Fo3 project beauty port? I only ask in an effort to save time- testing this stuff out one after the other can be quite draining after a while, especially if the 2.9 port remains compatible w/ 3.2 all the same.

Honestly, it doesn't make much sense to hide the modding section but not the actual download itself, you may want to consider that. There's a thread in the Announcement section with instructions on how to install the legacy version and it's respective download links. You know that someone, somewhere is just going to derp and install that instead...

So, if I understand you correctly, you have removed everything related to 2.9.4 and are not willing to give anyone access to those older mods anymore, because some people may run into problems when they try using them with 3.x of TTW. This decision makes great guides like for example http://ttwoee.com/ completely useless, because more than half of the links in that guide are now broken. It will also make it more likely that these forums are avoided in the future and TTW mods will be hosted on other sites (like Nexus) instead.

I understand that you don't want to deal with outdated versions of TTW anymore, but many players are still interested in them, at least until 3.2 has much better support for most of the mods that worked well with 2.9.4 before. I'd like to create an archive of the old outdated 2.9.4 mods, so that you don't have to host them here. Could you authorize my account for access to the locked forum with the 2.9.4 mods so that I can build that archive?

Wow these guys worked there asses off to get a new release of this great mod out and some people just have to bitch that there will no longer be any support for the older 2.9 mods unless they are updated for 3.2. Roy and his people are just a very small group who are doing this for their own enjoyment. They don't have the time or should they make the time to support two versions of the mod. And since people are either too ignorant , too blind or just don't really give a crap to read that 2.9 mod won't work with 3.2 so they keep making posts about the mods not working the TTW team did the only thing they could do. And that was to remove the 2.9 mods access all together. And I personally don't think they should make the mods available so they can be archived because if people have any access to them they will most likely continue installing them into a 3.2 modded TTW and bitch about them not working or bugging people to update the mods to work. And from what I've noticed, since the 2.9 mods have been removed, is that there has been a pretty big drop off of talk about those mods other than a few people asking about them about them being gone (which if they just did a search would tell them why) and the occasional request to have one updated to 3.2.

Now as far as the fact that some guides out there now have broken link, well too bad. Those guides are not the responsibility of Roy or his team. The person who created the guide is the person who needs to fix that issue by updating the guide for 3.2 or if they no longer want to do the work of maintaining the guide remove it all together. I sort of know about this because I use to do some guides for different things and I was the one who had to maintain them whenever there were changes to whatever the guide was written for.

that ttwoe guide is outdated as hell anyway, and nobody should be using it even as a 2.9 guide.

I understand your point of view, Royhr, but I disagree with some of your statements and assumptions. Read my post again if you think I'm here to bitch about anything or to demand anything. I'm also looking forward to being able to play 3.2 with all the mods that I like to use. But it's not there yet and right now the removal of the 2.9 mods creates a vacuum.

And the people who put a lot of effort into making these guides are less likely going to update their guides or making new ones if they have to expect their work to be useless once the next update is released.

But unless you are part of the TTW team, I'll wait for Roy to chime in and either accept my offer to help or decline it. Either way you should reconsider how you communicate with people, because telling some to f off is not helping to attract more people that could help during this phase of moving from 2.9 to 3.2.
