Shaders remove steam overlay?

For some reason whenever, I try to use the wrapper version of the shaders; the Steam Overlay never shows up. It does absolutely nothing with shift-tab. Does the injector version have the same issue? If not, does it break anything else? I want the nicest graphics possible in my TTW playthrough.
