Application Load Error 5:0000065434
Okay guys, I was playing TTW one day just fine, and I shut down the computer for the night and hit the rack. The next day the computer booted up and downloaded an update. Later on I tried to start up TTW and got the above error message. I didn't change fo3, fnv or TTW one iota. It just wouldn't start at all. I normally use FOMM to play the game and it's always worked in the past. If I try to play just fnv it seems to load fine if I start a new game. I looked up the error online and discovered that it seems to be a Steam load error. My question is why? I've never used Steam, and I don't even have it installed on my system. Why is it asking for Steam now? I've refused to use it up to this point as I dislike their policies. I thought it might just be FOMM until the same message popped up on me when I tried to play Doom 3 BFG Edition. Is there any way around this without being held hostage to Steam?

That only happens with the steam version.

I assure you that neither version of the games (FO3 and FNV) are Steam versions, and TTW worked fine up to about a week ago. I have the cd versions of both games and I just played FNV alone for a couple of hours without a problem. Please don't say automatically "That only happens with the Steam version" because I was using TTW just fine with the cd versions of the games. I was just wondering why it would say that after I'd been playing the game for almost a year without a problem. I'm going to delete TTW and reinstall it to see if that corrects it. I'm also going to look into Mod Organizer since it may be a problem with FOMM since you said TTW doesn't work with Vortex.

There is no "CD" version of Fallout New Vegas. It's either Steam or now GoG.
That error is a steam error, so your crack is bad. Don't try to bullshit me.
here's a gallery I put together because I got sick of this same argument on the 4GB mods https://imgur.com/a/OsPd9
If you bought it in good faith return it from from where you purchased it and demand a refund, because you got ripped off.

There is a version of FONV that comes on DVD (not CD). That's the version I bought. However, it IS Steam, just with all the files on the DVD so that you don't have to download the game files. So yes, there's no version that isn't Steam, but yes, there is also a version that comes on DVD.It uses a custom compression to fit everything onto DVD, and decompresses by default into the Steam apps directory.
