First time TTWing and looking for mod recommendations.

Post by Darrowmere » Fri Sep 14, 2018 9:39 pm

Hey title pretty much says it all. I've got both games legally through steam and have installed the latest TTW and pasted the hotfix in.

So here's where my struggles begin. I think during install it said NVSE was offered and i accepted not 100% sure now. Think i've patched the game to 4GB it was very quick and i was suspicous.
I should say at this point i've always used NMM in the past so new to FOMM and learning. Anyway i'm not really looking to add anything new to the game like areas or quests just improve everything in the game. Textures, humans, animals, weather etc. I have spotted a few mods that i like such as Nevada sky but i am uncertain if that will make the Capital wasteland and the Mojave the same which they are different places and should have different looks or if that will only effect the mojave and i will need to find a TTW converted F3 mod. Also unsure if that mod would effect DLC areas such as the Divide or Point Lookout. Just very unsure at the moment would appreciate a little help as i really want to play a graphically remastered double game but the mods are delaying the fun as i don't want to create the wrong load order/overwrite something and have to uninstall and start from the beginning again. Thanks

https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/52037 : Here, these two work for the lighting and terrain on both wastelands. You want them both to be last in your load order. They got TTW editions that work on both wastelands.

If your install made a TTW folder, sure. I left Fallout 3 installed on my PC though. Never know when you need to run the installer again because a file might've had an issue reading the original F3 install.

I'm with ya. Never played any fallout....So, I'm trying to do the same thing. Very overwhelmed. I'm going to download the 2 that were suggested above. What others have you found? I don't have alot of time to play....So, I would like to spend as little time as possible troubleshooting and "trying" them out. Hope your enjoying the wasteland!

I would recommend Roy's Jsawyer alt mod, it has been patched to be compatible with TTW 3.2. No hassle, just download and activate through whatever mod manager you use. It is similar to Project Nevada in a sense but lighter and closer to a vanilla experience. It changes some of the game's aspects to make it a tad more challenging while keeping it fair. It is basically a director's cut + 'the-way-it-was-meant-to-be' sort of mod.

If you want to spice up combat and make it more roleplay friendly, try BLEED. Vanilla FO3/NV tends to lean towards specific builds for effectiveness, this aims to correct that and make other types of weapons and builds equally viable by tweaking the damage output, side-effects and adding DOTs. Like the previous suggestion it has been patched to be compatible with the latest (3.2) TTW version, and it is just as easy to install.

Bear in mind that I did not care for the level cap and weight restriction from original jsawyer and removed them as that is not fun due to you need to be able to carry ammo to fight supermutants and other tough creatures/enemies in Fallout 3 that do not exist in NV.

Each of those options corresponds to a different texture pack. Download the one that corresponds to what you're using (Ojo Bueno, NMC, etc.). If you're not using a texture pack, download the last one labeled Vanilla ETL.
