Crash after loading screen for new game.

Post by R3dnB14CK » Tue Sep 20, 2016 11:38 pm

After lurking for 4 days trying to get this to work, I'm giving in and asking for help.

-Intel i7-4770k @ 3.5 GHz

-8GB RAM

-ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO

-FOMM (0.14.11.12)

- FNV & 3 are both GOTY editions on steam

-Windows 10

I'm running this on fresh installs on everything. I launch the game fine(using FNV4gb though FOMM) get to the menus, click new game, get though the movies, and the loading screen. but just when I feel like the loading would finish, the game crashes. Ive tried changing the compatibility of FNV4gb to xp service 3, but I get the same crash. Everything in the INI files got changed. I've tried running it straight from the FO4gb launcher. micmou made a guide for windows 10 compatibility (https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/micmous-guide-fallout-and-windows-10) but the imgur pics are down and I'm not tech savvy engough to know what he's saying without step by step walkthough. I have installed NV and such outside of the default.

Any help or Ideas would be appreciated

This is a problem with the Windows 10 Anniversary update. I can't give you the specifics of why, but I can give you the fix that worked for me.

This is NVAC (New Vegas Anti Crash), if you aren't running it already... you should be. Its amazing. The mod author just released an optional beta patch that works for the crashing after load screen problem that has become wide spread. I tried installing it with NMM and it didn't work, so I recomend reading through the description to see where the manual install for the .dll should go.

I really hope this helps you. It works for me (the game stutters a fair amount while in the wasteland for now, but it runs.) and I'm hoping MS will role out a fix for whatever the conflict is with the new update for Windows. I imagine its causing problems for more than just Fallout. Good luck.

awesome, glad someone got it running again. I realized after posting that probably have a pretty different setup. I figured that since TTW was mostly run from NV the NVAC should help... but I haven't actually set up TTW yet. Been looking into it though. Just worried about losing my saves, and the visual setup. (character overhaul is pretty amazing. Playdo faces gets to me after a while.)
