DC Wasteland Radio Music Silence

Post by ZeKaiser » Wed Aug 19, 2015 8:46 am

I apologize if this is the incorrect place to post, if it is please inform me and I will immediately remove it and post in the proper forum (or not at all if this is irrelevant)

Allow me to preface this by saying I am not great with computers and it is very possible the following issue I face is my own fault or easily solvable.   It should also be noted that I am using Windows 10.   I very recently installed "A Tale of Two Wastelands" and am facing an issue I faced with some radio mods before which is the fact that none of the stations play music in the Capital Wasteland (Enclave and the Vault 101 PA for example). This is an issue I have seen before but never fixed it mostly occurred with single radio station mods, though some like CONNELRAD, WPR, and the radio stations in Project Brazil work perfectly fine. This has caused quite the irritating issue of leaving awkward silence where a radio should be playing music in the Capital Wasteland. This seems to be related to an issue with the sound drivers that occurred when the game was first released. Though what I have read seems similar (Music silence but they also experienced stuttering in audio which I have not) all the fixes are either outdated and cannot be used on my software (Refer to XP or 7) or I simply do not have the know how (Many recommended K-Lite Codec Pack but I cannot figure out how to apply it to FNV) Almost all of the older solutions pointed to sound drivers being the issue but many mentioned the rarity of the problem and as I said this seems to occur only with select mods and "A Tale of Two Wastelands". I lack the knowledge on how I might access my drivers and alter the filters to fix this, but I am not even sure if that is the issue. Please any help is appreciated and any suggestions are useful.

A) Did you turn off 5.1/7.1

A) Did you turn off 5.1/7.1 surround? The game doesn't really like it that much because Direct Sound is not a thing anymore.

B) Codec packs are garbage, don't install them. They will break far more than they will fix. It's unlikely they will work on windows 10 anyways.

C) If you don't know much about computers, I would suggest you stay away from trying to use/edit filters and codecs because you can break stuff in a way that will require a reinstall to fix.

This is an ongoing issue for some people, afaik there is no fix.
