Food and drink not working (or at least glitchy)

Post by Arkngt » Sat Jun 27, 2015 1:06 pm

This might have nothing to do with TTW as I almost never play Fallout New Vegas, so a bit unsure about its mechanics. Anyway, I have Hardcore mode on and I'm using Project Nevada, but when my char is eating or drinking, it won't lower her thirst or hunger. Well, Purified Water has worked once, but other than that, nothing happens.

Checking my mod list in FNVEdit, I don't see any conflicts - to me it seems as if Project Nevada's settings should carry through.

Am I missing something obvious about how Project Nevada's Primary Needs work - or even how the Hardcore mode works?

EDIT: In fact, my char actually gets THIRSTIER if drinking Nuka-Cola, like 2% thirstier per bottle. WTF.

Nuka Cola does indeed

Nuka Cola does indeed dehydrates in vanilla FNV too.

I think most drinks that are not water dehydrates the character in vanilla, but as I almost never test in hardcore I can't be sure.

OK, thanks, might be this whole thingy with stale and old food perhaps as well. I'll loot Super Duper Mart and do some eating research.

TTWFixes fixes that.

TTWFixes fixes that.

PN doesn't add primary needs either, as it's part of Hardcore mode in vanilla. It does alter food to not heal if you wish and some other things with perks and the food sanitizer.

Since PN also changes those items, you'll need a merge patch. ;)

Yes, I have a Merged Patch - and TTWFixes fixed it as you said. I think it's a bit odd that both Nuka Cola and Beer dehydrates, though. Might make a small patch for it. Sure, it's not the best sources when it comes to hydration, but come on, at least 90% of a coke is water and c. 95% of a beer.

nuka cola dehydrates because of the long-standing belief that sodas dehydrate you, especially when they have caffeine in them.  most people will argue you to death on that though, even though it doesn't make sense.

Yes, and alcohol dehydrates as well, but then of course water hydrates and that's the main ingredient in both. Anyway, we'll see how it goes - it might be a good idea from a game play point of view. My char has already dozens of Nuka Colas, so perhaps they would make it too easy to stay hydrated.

it's a lot easier to drink a ton of soda to stay hydrated than it is to drink equal amounts of hard liquor.
