Megaton Full of water (Most likely install issue)

Post by Sirbab » Thu Dec 18, 2014 9:02 am

So i installed TTW 2.73 and several other ttw mods on my new install of FO3/FNV, played through vault 101 no issues.  Then i went to megaton, to discover that the entire city is merely a large lake, no doors, walls, floors.  All objects, and npc's are still there as far as i can tell, i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction before i go putzing around or rebuilding my fo3 files. I did run it through a quick LOOT and FNVedit to make sure nothing is horribly/obviously wrong.

System Information:

OS:Windows 7

Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1100t Black edition thuban 6-core 3.3 GHz, 3.7 turbo 125w

Ram: 20 GB DDR3 Ram (varying brands)

Mod Manager:Nexus Mod Manager

Install log (I believe this is the correct log, i had to build multiple times for whatever reason) http://pastebin.com/dw6tH7WP

Load order: Unfortunately i was unable to locate a way to export my loard order in NMM, i have a mod list, but not all are enabled. (http://pastebin.com/yDV1g2rw)

Symptoms: Well, i expected regular megaton, and got a flat lake, which is afaik at the bottom of all cells. with npc's and items falling from the sky

Tried:As stated used FNVEdit and LOOT, having spent a good deal of time setting it up already, i wanted to see if someone had an easy answer before i stress myself out trying to figure it out without knowing the problem.

Both my FO3 And my FNV Downloads are the steam versions, Fo3 is GOTY, and FNV has all DLC including preorders.

Any assistance is much obliged.

Never seen that before!  Did you go swimming? ... :-)

There is a function to copy and paste your load order.  I forgot how to use the function since I am now one of a handful of diehard Mod Organizer users.

Yes i did go swimming, so did all the town members XD

On a serious note, i'm surprised i didn't see that button, i guess the fact that it is the same color of the background threw me off.

Here is my load order: http://pastebin.com/D02vJHZY

Looks like you've got the TTW and FO3 versions of RWL. Ditch the FO3 versions. Beyond that disable everyting that didn't come with TTW and test. Then re-enable a few at a time and test until it breaks again. Then it'll be one of the mods in those few.

Hi! Newbie to TTW here, just diving in.

I'm running into the same problem; Megaton was working fine for the first little while, but when I tried to fast travel there after doing part of the Wasteland Survival Guide quest, it had disappeared from my fast travel map, and when I walked there from Springvale, I ended up at the bottom of the lake.

Edit: Turns out my problem has another element to it. Megaton (still the lake), the Museum of History/Underworld, and Museum of Technology all appear on the Pip-Boy, and can be fast-traveled between when I transition through the door of one of those three locations. Meanwhile, everything else appears on the Pip-Boy together, and can be fast-traveled between, when I travel somewhere else, and return to the world map through a door transition. Every other location seems to be normal, Megaton's the only lake, but those three locations basically occupy a separate Pip-Boy map than everything else, even though quest markers appear as normal either way. It's just when I'm looking at the no Megaton map, it points to where Megaton should be.

The last things I've done with the game were install Project Nevada (including a ton of monkeying around to sort out the HUD glitch), and try and fail to figure out why my radio is skipping every time I open a door, or when I check some containers, but only when it's playing music.

By the by, if anyone has any ideas on that last, I'd appreciate help with that, too! It's really frustrating, and I'm running out of ideas.

Thanks in advance! I'm really loving the mod, and am looking forward to tweaking everything out so that it works smoothly!

Edit: Oh, I have run this through LOOT, and it checked out there, at least.

OK, the problem is LOOT. LOOT

Post by RoyBatty » Thu May 28, 2015 9:53 am

OK, the problem is LOOT. LOOT seems to be sorting only plugins.txt and not time/date stamping files, while that works fine with Skyrim, it totally does not work with New Vegas or Fallout 3 (at least according to zilav). Sort your load order manually according to the guide in the Modding Tutorials sub.

Megaton being underwater or other places getting screwed up is always due to a mod with dirty edits to worldspaces in it. I'm going to say something about QuoVagis, CoitoErgoSum, BQV2DLC (whatever that is), or Find Ingots is causing the problem since the other mods you have are known working.

The stuttering is caused by the audio engine, I'm still testing a vorbis update, when I can confirm it doesn't break anything and actually helps I'll share it.

Thanks, Roy! I'll manually resort my load order, and se if that can get things working again. I'll also check all those mods in FNVEdit to see if I can find any dirty edits. (BQV2DLC is part of Quo Vagis, by the by. It extends the conversation options to DLC NPCs.)

I'm looking forward to that vorbis update. The stuttering doesn't break the game, by any means, but it is certainly an annoyance, and I'll be glad to see the back of it.
