Copying FO3 weapon to FNV, FNVEdit hiding subrecords in DNAM

Post by DaWrecka » Wed Dec 30, 2015 3:58 pm

When copying a weapon record from a FO3-based file, (Including Fallout3.esm) any block or subrecord which wasn't present in the FO3 version is simply unavailable in FNVedit. The VATS block, for example, wasn't in Fallout 3 WEAP records, and so it doesn't get copied with FNVEdit. The Weapon Mods blocks likewise. Those are easily-fixed though - right-click the right spot, Add, job's a good'un. Worst-case scenario they can simply be copied from other records.

However, that's not the case with the DNAM block, which can't simply be deleted and rebuilt. DNAM contains a number of important subrecords, such as weapon mod effects, Strength requirement and Skill requirement. Drag-and-dropping a DNAM block from another WEAP with those subrecords doesn't help; Those subrecords are still totally unavailable in the copy.

The only way I've found to make these subrecords available for editing is to make a blank WEAP record in the child plugin with the same formID, and painstakingly copy each element one-by-one to the override, making absolutely sure not to copy the entire DNAM block because then I'm back to square one.

Can anyone help me find a less time-consuming way to be able to set weapon mod effects and Str/skill requirements on converted weapons? I'm using version 3.1.1 of FNVEdit.
