Mod compatability between versions of TTW?

I feel like I'm asking a stupid question, but I can't seem to find the answer; How well do mods work between versions of TTW? I know ones for really early versions (Say, for 2.4) will have real problems, but quite a few things I'd like to use seem to have versions for 2.8 or so. About to try TTW for the first time, would like to know before I start installing things.

Will it matter much using mods from that version?

Most stuff for 2.4 up should work fine.

Thanks, I'll give it a go tomorrow then, once the games finish reinstalling. :)
