Merge Patch Issues/Super Mutant Equipiment Problems

Post by alexthemamba » Thu Jul 09, 2015 1:54 am

Hello, I've been trying for hours now to get my super mutants to equip the weapons in their inventory. I know that this is obviously an error on my end, and that it is caused by mods. I just can't seem to find a fix. I have read through all previous posts about this issue in the forums, but can't for the life of me get  anything to work. I've created a merge patch for the mods that mess with the mutants guns (to my best knowledge), but whenever I load my game with the patch, it just freezes at the main menu. Any input about what's wrong with my patch would be greatly appreciated, as I really am in need of help with this, because I'm completely out of ideas. Thanks.

Freezing at the main menu

Freezing at the main menu usually happens to me when one of my mods is missing a master.

Question though: Are you sure you are creating the merge patch correctly? It isn't something you do for specific mods, you do it for your entire load order. Occassionally, people confuse this with merging mods, which is entirely different from a merge patch.

Well I tried to merge my whole load order, but when I attempt the merge, it says "merge failed. formid references a master which is not available in file honest hearts.esm  (02). I have tried disabling honest hearts, then it says the same thing, except with old world blues, and so on. Any ideas on what the issue could possibly be?

Oh I've had this issue. I had to correct it manually using FNV edit.

In NV edit, you can find the appropriate thing in your merged patch under:

FormID List -> SupermutantWeapons

I found that you can just click and drag entries from the other columns to copy them to your merged patch. However, you're going to have to do this every time you make a new merged patch.

Edit: Wait, I didn't see your other post.

Think you could take a screenshot to show the error?

Well, first off, I have no idea what you're doing in that picture, that's not creating a merged patch, you create a merged patch like this: right click anywhere in the mod list and...

Also, I don't mean drag files, I mean drag entries in the editor.

You see that column on the far right? Since this is under FormID List -> SupermutantWeapons, this determines what weapons they can use. When you make a merged patch, and certain entries don't get copied from your other mods, you're going to have to enter them manually in the merged patch column. However, it is much faster to just click and drag entries from the other columns, which copies it across.

Alright I did the merge patch

Alright I did the merge patch the way you showed and it worked! If only I knew the solution had been right in front of me this whole time lol. Glad to have this problem finally resolved. PS- (I was trying to make a merged patch by following one of the videos on the XEdit nexus page, which involved a script to make a merge patch. All I managed to do by trying it that way was over-complicate things.)

PPS- Thanks a ton!yes

That... wasn't a merged patch. That was trying to merge all your mods.

Well that explains why it didn't work haha. Like I said, I just followed a video that told me what to do. It was late, I was tired, and apparently I didn't pay as much attention as I thought I did.
