I've had this problem whenever I alt tab out most of the time but now it won't fix itself like it usually does. This load order worked perfectly until moments ago and I believe it's because I was trying to fix my Mothership Zeta from crashing at certain points.



Problem: When I load up Fallout, the background intro music plays. I then proceed to the menu screen, no sound from the options. When I get into the game it is literal silence.

Additional Info: I may have messed it up due to me scrounging through the threads to find a fix for Zeta crashing. I extracted the skeleton.nif from the TTW Zeta - Main.bsa and put it into my NV DATA folder regularly and that's when the problem started, I proceeded to try and create an exact duplicate of where the file originally was found so I went through to the meshes/dlc05 folder and created a creatures folder and then created an alien folder and put the skeleton.nif inside that. Problem persisted. I then went back and began fiddling with my Project Nevada files as they have led to me not being able to hear things. Problem persisted. 

If anything here is the problem please tell me. IF I did something to make this problem that'd be nice to know.

Did you alt-tab out of the game when you did this? Like when the game was still running? I don't know what would happen if you replaced a file on the fly while the game was still running. It would probably just read the new file whenever that data is loaded again, NP. But IDK.


You're not looking at other issues related to having too many mods or replacers?

Your problem may very well be related to running too many mods at once.

Tricky: The game was not up, I try to keep from alt tabing out at all nowadays.



Jax: If that's the case, that's understandable but I'm more focused on how the skeleton.nif file led to the having no sound period problem. I'm going to check today and see if it's still a problem.



Second: I had fixed some of the problems of crashing but while I was playing the game (before searching for a solution on here) I was in the steam works and had just dealt with Sally making a huge explosion and was running to the door on the left when an alien started running at the door from the otherside and it had a weird green fizzy shield-like thing and as it tried to open the door the game crashed. That's what made me think I needed to fix it.


 


EDIT: Apparently every single problem I was having is gone. I can hear everything again and when I made it to the alien with the shield I didn't crash and ( while he was difficult) I killed him and saved to post this.
