Fallout Character Overhaul - NPC Geck VS NPC In-Game

Post by FiftyTifty » Thu Jan 15, 2015 12:01 am

'Ello lads.

Been tinkering about with FCO for a couple days; been focusing on getting the workflow down fer addin' bruises, burns and the like.

Decided to start out with our ol' gal Nova, so far as to add 'er to FCO's new-fangled race-texture-thingimajiggers.

Problem is, that whilst I have her looking close to vanilla whilst still being an improvement...That only applies to the Geck. In-game, she has a face resembling that of a depressed bird.

I'm using a .esm for the character edits I'm making, as I've read that is preferred fer makin' NPCs. Also ctrl+F4'd Nova's NPC record, so as to export the facegen texture. Got a single image with a dark face; should be about right?

Anyhow, here's a picture with the discrepancy. On the left is the Geck's render of Lé Editéd Nóvá, on the right is in-game. Disabled my ENB to make sure that wasn't causing it.

So aye; why does she look like she's about to die in-game?

And aye, I'm using a custom race so as to add the huge bruise-burn-thingy. Changing the race to the ones that FCO comes with doesnae make a difference.

Already dealt with countless

Already dealt with countless NPCs using FCO, use advanced face gen tab, and play around with the tones. Save the settings somewhere, or screenshot, and improve it from there.

If you change Jericho to Drumber's race that fits him best, hispanic whatever's closest to his age. Jericho's face happens to receive a very purplish red, which is unbearable in game, ENB or not. Dealing with the ghouls is the worst, spent hours on Charon, since FCO makes him the Crimson Chin.

Like Drumber does in the New Vegas side, you have to modify almost each and every NPC when applying FCO on em, or else you wake up to a mess in game. Clover is one of the few exceptions, no altering needed.

New FCO update is coming, which involves new races with new features. There's a reason Drumber hasn't done this himself, even after TJ offered his mod to be featured on the front page months ago. You're better off waiting for the final version before applying the current state of FCO more than a thousand times.
We are so the baddest gang in the Wastes!
