Post by EverChosen208 » Thu Aug 17, 2017 9:47 am

I've heard that the limit was 150 from multiple sources. The only weird things I've had happen throughout my time in the Mojave (My plugins have been around 140 since I finished in the CW) are ED-E completely bugging out and being unresponsive to everything once leaving vault 22, The issues with the suite and the Cutscenes for honest hearts not moving on from the first slide.

Besides that everything has been completely fine, with 60fps being my norm. The occasional crash here and there but those only seem to happen in the main game, in DLC's I haven't crashed at all so far, about to start OWB so I'll put that to the test further. Once I finish merging as many plugins as I can I should be well below 139

EDIT: Does anyone know if it would be possible to merge the TTW options plugins together or are they too script heavy for it to work?

DOUBLE EDIT: I'm now down to 121 plugins, with all merged mods seeming to work just like before.Checked the MCM menus and in game too

Well they are wrong, it's 139

Well they are wrong, it's 139 *if you're lucky* and the game starts having black textures, invisible walls and red diamonds for many with less than that.

I must be *extremely* lucky then since I've been around 140 plugins for a few hundred hours of gameplay now with none of these problems

If your using NVAC, check the nvac.log in the game's installation directory and see if there are any 'hits'. You can check the NVAC page on the nexus for mitigation codes. Hopefully you'll have a clean log. If not, try dropping some mods out until the crash aversions (hits in the log) stop; if you have a bunch of hits, your more than likely to crash at some point. I noticed a bunch happening, including occasional game crashes, with MonsterMod; after I removed it, none on both counts. I also noticed a few hits with some mods I just added; Venessa and Robot Companion maybe. I removed those and played for a few more hours with no hits in the log.

Other than finding which mods are potentially causing a problem, so far, I'm completely crash free. I still have some glitches to work out, like a few green and 'floating' billboards from LodGen (it's bad data somewhere).

Log is clean at the moment

Post by EverChosen208 » Thu Aug 17, 2017 2:17 pm

Log is clean at the moment but I haven't played for a few hours. I will check it again tomorrow when I play next to see if any hits come up.Thanks for the tip :)

My game seems to run a bit smoother and faster in regards to loading now that I've shortened my LO by 20+ plugins but that could just be a placebo effect going on. Didn't crash for over 3 hours in the Mojave last session. Still having FPS drops in suite, plus this damn bug with the cutscenes stopping me from starting the DLC

Anytime. I noticed a HUGE drop in fps when entering the cell with the Lucky 38 compared to the rest of the game's areas, though I haven't been in it yet. I'm guessing it's a GPU problem with different lighting effects and transparencies to deal with. I tinker out something here in a bit to 'monitor' some of those things and graph that over time and see which ceiling is getting hit; gpu, cpu or both. Let's do a quick test and get back some results...

Ok, after a quick test, here

Post by Mystical Panda » Thu Aug 17, 2017 3:19 pm

Ok, after a quick test, here's the results I'm getting:

In and around Freeside (both sections) 47-60 fps; avg about 50ish. Entering the section with the Lucky 38, depending on the angles 30-55; with the angle where all the lights are visible, including the 'haze' is the worst. Entering the Lucky 38, 47-60, avg about  55. I'm figuring the GPU is hitting cap; running QHD+ (16:9 1440p).

Since I'm loading textures from a regular 7200rpm HDD, that will def effect some of the fps at times.

The plugin count is "kinda"

Post by paragonskeep » Thu Aug 17, 2017 3:21 pm

The plugin count is "kinda" subjective but I'd go with what Roy says on this. I've used over 220 on Fallout 3 but then Vegas dropped to about 150ish and then issues but adding TTW I wouldn't go above 80. Personally and this is just what I've seen and I'm weird so....but the more texture mods that I ran the less plugins I could safely run without issue.

In regards to merging plugins I merge any that contain multiple esps into 1 esp like active wasteland etc. Then I merge any armor , weapon, etc to keep a system if you will. I've tended to not merge any with navmesh as I can't get them to work properly after the merge but maybe you'd have better time.

If life is but a test, where's the damn answer key?!?!?

Post by jlf65 » Thu Aug 17, 2017 4:41 pm

I never really managed to add enough mods to FO3 to hit a limit. When I ran "plain" FONV, it hit a limit at close to 180... I ran 176 most of the time in NV and could usually squeeze at least 2 hours between crashes (about 10 minutes without NVAC). When I finally installed TTW, I quickly learned that that was WAY too many. Roy informed me of the 139 hard limit, but I started running into too much trouble at about 135. Until I accidently erased my Windows partition, I stuck to below 130 as much as I could.

In regards to the suite the biggest drops for me also seem to be happening when facing in the direction of the bedroom, workshop, and clinic areas which have more lighting than the rest of the room. Also happens in House's penthouse but nowhere near as severely.

EDIT: Anyone know if its safe to merge the TTW options esp's together? That would take at least 7 plugins of my LO
