Is this draw distance normal?

Post by EverChosen208 » Thu Jun 15, 2017 2:25 am

I cant remember if the draw distance was always this bad in FO3 or NV on console, but I did not notice it at all back then either way. If its not normal then I have no idea what is causing it.

In the first screenshot on the right there is supposed to be a small suburb with quite a few houses, car's, trees, and roads. On the left is a factory which as you can see has a massive chunk missing out of it. There are chimneys on top of it too but you cant see them from here. All these things that are supposed to be there only appear from pretty close up.

On the second one you can see how the grass and bushes just cuts off at a certain distance.

If anyone knows if this is normal if if theres a way to fix it then it would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried tinkering with the actual draw distance settings for buildings and objects in the New Vegas pause menu?

I have to assume you didn't, since you didn't mention it in the post.

My bad. Everything is max in

Post by EverChosen208 » Thu Jun 15, 2017 11:01 am

My bad, should've mentioned that. Everything is max in the in game menu, and I installed the NV configuration program a while back to change Ini settings. I've put all the object, grass, tree and item fade distance way past the max but the only thing that changes is the grass. No fear of performance drops as my hardware is fairly high end. Is there any proper way to improve it?

What is the risk that comes with changing ugrids? I haven't done it myself after seeing all the warnings.

Changing ugrids will corrupt

Changing ugrids will corrupt your games.

Configator is dangerous, careful what you change with that. Some of it is also nonsense (as you've already discovered).

lol, a coupe years back I played "Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen" again after not finishing it the first time around (some 15 years ago). What a joy that was! =]

Got a playthrough in Ravenloft Stone Prophet that has been halted for a few months, will get back to it eventually, still gotta play the GOG Dark Sun series after that ^^. There's nothing like going "true retro" every once in a while.

I get the OP though, it's increasingly irritating when something that should work in a nice and dandy way will just refuse to.
