Who are the most poorly voiced/poorly cast characters in Fallout: New Vegas?

Post by Dracomies » Tue Jun 14, 2016 3:19 pm

Hi!

I wanted to ask a question. This is my first post here. I wasn't sure where to put this question but the guys at "No Mutants Allowed" said I should make a posting here.

Here's the link where they mention you:

Ok, here's my question.

I'm a modder for Fallout: New Vegas and I make changes to character design, level design and add immersion into videogames.

Lately...over the past three months, I've been working on fixing a huge problem in Fallout: New Vegas.

Voice-acting.

I gathered a team of 80 professional voice-actors. They don't play Fallout: New Vegas but they do voice-acting for anime and videogames and for drama and they do this for a living. They're really, really good at acting.

I'm looking to fix characters that had bad acting or seemed out of place or where was too many people voiced by the same guy.

ie. Yuri Lowenthal voiced everyone in the Fort.

Now..each person sounds different. Antony, Otho, Aurelius, Dale Barton, Lucius and the generic guards each have thier own voice.

Could you give me a list of NPCs that you feel could use a revoice? Also please explain what sucked about them. What are some characters in Fallout: New Vegas that just sounded bad? I just want to focus on Fallout: New Vegas and not the DLCs but I will get to the DLCs at some point. I would greatly appreciate feedback on this. I know it seems like I'm just writing a post and won't follow up with action but I really am working on this and it will get done but I just need to spot all the bad voice-acting and get them all fixed.

Oliver Swanick. ok. Lol. Man I loved him. I thought he was hilarious though. But he has few lines and he'd be easy to change. But I thought he was hilarious :D

I thought he was hilarious too, but you must admit it probably was not on purpose.

Barring that, more variety in generic NPCs/captives would be great, both in voices and lines.

Ncr soldiers could use variety, getting tired of patrolling the mojave lines. Any chance you'd be willing to do a tale of two wastelands addon? Fallout 3 is even worse when it comes to clone voices.

I actually like New Vegas' voice acting. Oblivion has some of the worst, tho'; was it the Bosmer that were voiced by some old mumbling dude with a lisp?

What would be good, is just a wider variety of voice types, especially for the cookie cutter characters (raiders, fiends, powder gangers, etc.). Bit jarring when you hear the same voice actor say "Graaauuh!" when a grenade's thrown at 'em.

Oliver Swanick is the best. I wouldn't change him at all.

I really don't like any of this guy's work. He sounds completely emotionless, flat and deadpan in all of his delivery. Good examples are:

I would say really anybody voiced by Emerson.

A lot of the generic merchants voices are kind of jarring too. I ran into a younger looking merchant who had a similar voice as Old Lady Gibson.
