ENB for TTW Questions/Suggestions

Post by Chrisjack » Mon Aug 17, 2015 8:21 pm

I am looking for suggestions for some good ENBs that work well with both wastelands/support nightvision but am also trying to avoid the transparent ironsights bug.

I was recently using Old World ENB which uses an older version (v 0.216) which has the transparency hands/gun issue when using ironsights (Omegared99's patch doesn't fix this) and the only work-around seems to be shutting off detailed shadows and ambient occlusion which sorta defeats most of the reason to use an ENB, in my opinion. Now, I have recently read that Boris came out with his final version of ENB for FO (v 0.278) at some point and that it reverts back to having an enblocal.ini and has fixes implemented for this and other transparent texture problems.

Has anyone played with the newest version and can confirm the fixes? Can anyone tell me if it is safe to use the newer version with an older preset like Old World/how far back of versions it could be safe to use with? As I stated above; I am also looking for suggestions on any ENBs that play nice with both wastelands but especially that support nightvision.

***Just in case this comes up as a double post, I apologize. My previous post had a weird bug and had originally routed incorrectly to someone else's post about ENBs from like January.

I recommend RWLE with ONIX or use Enhanced Shaders.  I am using 278 and have no problems but I am not using Old World which was cool when I used it.  You can always turn the features on to see if 278 works with Old World like it should.

Personally im using ENB 0.278 with Lucent's performance preset, and have AO off. I have never noticed any transparency issues, but the infamous ENB shadows issue still remain unfortunately.

I do appreciate the suggestions. I am going to uninstall Project Reality and give RWLE and Onix a go. I have been wondering about RWLE vs Project Reality for a while now, so this is a good chance to compare anyways.

Project Reality is awesome

Project Reality is awesome but it is so resource intensive.  RWLE is awesome and has the best thunder sound effects in my opinion.

Wow, you were right about those thunder sounds! I am digging RWLE. It may not have the awesome rolling clouds I love from PR but the other features are real nice and my FPS is not hurting as much. I played with a few ENBs too. I really liked an Onix variant I had found called Grim but I was having issues with distant terrain being white and flat and a weird line in the sky going jagged across the screen horizontal... but the color palette was pretty cool. I am currently trying it with the Rust preset from Cobalt ENB which is a similar palette but with a little more color saturation and this one seems right up my alley.

I am definitely happy to report that the transparency hands/gun issue when in ironsights is cleared up when using the newer ENB version.

Thanks again for the suggestions!

RWL which includes Onix is pretty much all performance based.  However, like all ENB, the ENB process itself requires resources.  Like Alex stated, the look and feel of Onix is based on the eye of the beholder.  I didn't like it but back then I had an older video card so maybe it looks better now?

I just tired out the Onix ENB, while it does look somewhat better, it also makes the world look very dirty and dark. Anyone have any idea what settings to tweak for that?

It's made to be used in conjunction with RWL or RWLE and you need to turn on HDR lighting, it doesn't work properly with bloom.
