Vault 101

So I was looking at cell vault101d, a lot of the children's birthday party-goers standing around in a void. But clicking around them, I find that the walls of the diner are apparently there, but just invisible. Does anyone know off hand if it's supposed to be like that, and if so, what's doing it? Changing these invisible walls (just as an experiment) doesn't seem to work.

If I've asked an inconveniencing or overly complicated question, whoops, sorry, feel free to ignore.
