What mods are you waiting for?

Post by Postal-Dude » Tue May 26, 2015 5:47 pm

Hey TTW Community.

I was just interested into the answer for what mods you are waiting the most. I talk about specific mods that are either announced, or just a imagination of you.

For myself I can say its either a Fallout 1 or 2 remake in the FNV engine. There is already a Fallout 1 remake in work for 2 or 3 years. And over the half of it is already done. Also I read on their Facebook page that they will maybe release an Alpha for the public in the next time. But I dont await any release of the full game for it before next year or even later. Hope it will get TTW supported too, hehe. Its called Fallout 1 - The Story WIP. May check the Nexus page and the Facebook page out. Its really a mod made with love. So many details like in the Shady sands pics are incredible.

I always loved the Fallout universe and its probably my favorite of all universes, followed by the Postal, Painkiller, Unreal Tournament, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and BioShock universes. But I never found myself getting into Fallout 1 & 2 simply because the gameplay is really horrible for me. I know how it works and everything but that sort of Combat and the whole controls just dont get me. The world is beautiful though, even if I prefer FO3 and NV. I dont think that you should compare them with the latest games anyway. They dont have much in common beside of the world and the art style. And I dont like it only because its old, usually I dont have that much problems with it, played myself several times though the Postal classic.

I often wondered if Bethesda ever even thought of remaking FO1 or FO2 in their Engine. I would definitely buy it and I dont think it would be that much of a work, at least not compared to FO3/NV because the world is a lot smaller and It would be more of some sort of 20 Euro game I guess. Maybe not interesting for Bethesda.

Tell me what you are waiting for or what your biggest mod wish is and what you think about Fallout 1 - The Story.

I very much look forward to The Story, our very own sesom's baby. :)

I also very much look forward to New Vegas Bounties III.

The Frontier is looking very interesting to me too, from what I've seen of it so far.

What, you don't like critically missing (with a high guns skill) and losing all of your ammo when you're two hexes away from a raider and running out of AP points before your opponents's turns? :P

Just to clarify, Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 together take place across most of California and then some. The Core Region is a much larger wasteland compared to DC or just New Vegas.

It would be really, really difficult to fit all of either of the original games's locations into a single sandbox like Bethesda did with Fallout 3.

If someone did, the sense of scale and distance between settlements and locations would be reduced to something cartoon-like (and some might think this is already the case in New Vegas, which is just one city.)

A better option would be to connect multiple worldspaces together through a fast-travel option and let the player's imagination fill in the distances in the world between locations. I think that The Story is already doing this much.

Fallout 1 - The Story is going to be way cool!  I really like how they are making it into like reading a novel.  While reading the book, you are the Vault Dweller.  When you want to put the book done, you are the courier or in the case of TTW, The Lone Wandering Courier.

I am looking forward to NVB III. Have done alpha testing for it and hoping Someguy2000 returns to finish it up.

My computer specs are too embarrassing to reveal, but the game still runs.

Fallout 1 and 2 stretch from southern Oregon all the way to Los Angeles. They are much LARGER than FO3 and New Vegas, not smaller. And I too am looking forward to The Story. Fallout 2 was the first real PC game I ever played (not counting school games like Oregon Trail). I'm also really anticipating The Frontier.

I personally think that

Post by Postal-Dude » Wed May 27, 2015 6:36 am

I personally think that Fallout 1 and 2 are not directly as big as FO3 or NV because they have a different map setting and travel system. There are several places through Nevada but between them is mostly empty nothing. Maybe a enemy who attacks you or whatever but concerning level design and places in general its not as big. If you count the whole map including empty spaces and travel time in, yes its bigger. Even though I have to say I never really played it completely, thats just what I think of my gameplay and others Letsplays so maybe im wrong.
