Working on an unarmed bare fists mod

Post by mcoorlim » Fri Nov 13, 2015 9:41 pm

Given that I'm too broke to buy Fallout 4, I thought I'd give TTW a playthrough. I'd like to go through it unarmed, without using even fist-weapons if possible.

Can anyone suggest TTW-compatible mods to make this a more pleasant or interesting experience?

Thanks.

edit: Have decided, instead, to make my own unarmed combat mod.

There is Way of the wasteland warrior... I have not tried it but it should work.

I installed it and gave it a go, but it was causing a bunch of weird errors. Starting in 101, for example, after you get your 10th bd bbgun and shoot the targets, no radroach shows up.

There are also reports of a lot of it just not working in the nexus forums, so unless someone can give me a heads up that it's awesome I'm going to keep looking.

Just enable your mods right before leaving the vault. Avoids those incompatibilities.

in the faq, we do say "hey, run 101 without mods"

perms:  either a full fireworks display spelling out "Puppettron Made This" anytime a user accesses my content in-game, or just give me credit somewhere.

No, yeah, I could do that, but from what I've read on the Nexus forum the mod is bugged all to hell and the author doesn't have any interest in fixing any of the problems.

Maybe instead of complaining I should just learn to mod and make my own.

I just play TTW unarmed and melee and I don't need any mods for it although playing without using even unarmed weapons only the character fists is something even I haven't done yet it is a good idea though so i might steal it one day .

There aren't many mods for FNV that relate to unarmed without any weapons, but maybe these will be helpful to you:

Unarmed and Melee Perk Tweak

Unarmed Rearmed

No Blood Splash When Punch

I forgot this one:

King of the Ring

I also forgot to mention that the More Perks for TTW mod merged by Deadboy also has a few handy perks for unarmed players, for example:

  • Tribal

    • You deal +5 Unarmed and Melee Damages but your Gun, Explosives and Energy Weapons Skills are reduced by -5 each.

  • Swing for the Fence!

    • With the Swing for the Fence! perk, you will be able to deal slightly more damage with an unarmed or melee attack.

  • Kleptomaniac Punch

    • Your stealing technique is quite artistic. With this perk, each punch has a chance to steal all of your opponent's equipment.

  • More that I will not post here because I am tired cheeky.

A note, I never use any mods with TTW due to my job on the Team, so I can't really say if those mods are good or not.

Also the TTW Optional Bobbleheads option changes the Unarmed Bobblehead to give this bonus:

  • When fighting bare handed in VATS you use 50% less AP.

    • Only useful if you use VATS, but melee and unarmed attacks deal more damage in VATS so it is always a good choice to hit a few VATS blows in case of emergency or the enemy is too fast and keeps dodging.

Other bobbleheads that were changed by the TTW Optional Bobbleheads option and might be useful for a full unarmed character:

  • Survival Bobblehead (previously Big Guns bobblehead): Your movement speed increases by 10%.

    • You need to be the faster you can to reach enemies before they can shoot you down.

  • Science Bobblehead: You deal 20% more damage to robots.

    • Robots are tough and Unarmed doesn't deal much damage, so every bit of extra damage helps.

  • Endurance Bobblehead: Your DT increases by 5.

    • You need to have the best defense possible so you can survive long enough to hit the enemy at close range.

  • Luck Bobblehead: Each point of Luck gives you an additional 1% chance to Critically Hit.

    • Good for extra critical hits.

  • Sneak Bobblehead: Your sneak attack criticals deal 25% more damage.

    • Only useful if you have some sneak skill, but unarmed players need all the extra damage they can get.

I wouldn't recommend using that mod with TTW unless you know how to fix certain things with NVEdit.

This mod for some reason is changing / overwriting a lot of NV and even F3 (the fuck?) scripts, which can cause a lot of problems.

Thanks for the suggestions, Risewild, but none of those seem to offer what I'm looking for.

As the thread's new title suggests, I've decided to go ahead and make my own. I haven't done anything of this sort before, but the general goal is to create perks that give an unarmed and unarmored character damage and DT bonuses that are comparable to what a lightly armored melee weapon character might be sporting at a similar level.

If I'm feeling motivated I'll throw in perks that do stuff like increasing run speed, critical chance, etc.

Questions:

1. Is it possible for a perk to check to see if someone is bare fisted and wearing "normal clothes" (DT 1 or less) before being functional?

2. What levels of DT or Damage Bonus are "standard" at given levels, based on the melee weapons and light armor someone could expect to find in leveled loot lists?

3. Is this too ambitious for a first modding attempt?
