TTW Textures

Post by Tylerinco1 » Sat Aug 09, 2014 3:56 am

So idk if it's because I run my game on low quality textures (have an older desktop and not enough money to upgrade, and I prefer the smooth 70-120 fps i get at that setting over the -10-30fps i get running medium or high) but the fallout 3 textures (from what I have encountered so far) are very just non-existent.

AS you can hopefully see this isn't very good texture quality. I also don't have this bad quality in vanilla (or even regularly modded) Fallout 3 with he same settings. I want to know if:

A. Installing NMC Textures will fix this

B. If i absolutely need to up the texture quality

C. If there is some sort of patch I haven't found

Thank you for your time and help is much appreciated.

NMC is probably a good choice

NMC is probably a good choice - FO3, then FNV. Use the lowest-resolution possible and enjoy!

I also just wanted to make

I also just wanted to make sure of one thing since I have already combined the performance Fallout 3 NMC and Small Fallout NV NMC using a guide from this forum post:

I wanted to know if that was 100% ok to do?

You're good to go man. I feel

You're good to go man. I feel your pain, I now have a pretty decent PC, but before I built it I was playing TTW on my moms crappy laptop. (core i3-4010U - YUCK) I ran the game just BARELY, of course I personally couldn't stand playing with crappy textures, so I found compromises to allow me to run the game on high texture quality.

I believe I had all the draw distances turned down to about 3-4, I turned shadows off completely (saved me 5-10 FPS actually) and was able to turn up the in-game texture quality to high. Of course, I was still running the game at a measly 20-30 FPS at best. You also might try searching for some mods that remove some of the random clutter around the game, nothing essential. I don't know how much - if any - of an impact they'll have on your FPS but I used them anyways with that laptop.
