Weather mods

Post by austen1000 » Wed Oct 29, 2014 7:37 pm

Does anyone know of a good weather mod? As in something that adds things like storms, rain, etc... (I say that because some "weather" mods in the Fallout games only seem to affect color and lighting, which I don't consider weather mods at all). At the moment, I use Nevada Skies with Krux's updated TTW plugin. I heard there are some issues with the TTW version, and I'm not sure Krux's updated plugin fixes those issues. In case it doesn't, does anyone have any alternatives?

Someone might be able to convert Project Reality, but I don't think it would work in the NV wasteland.

Well, there is a Project Reality for New Vegas, so, perhaps I could use a converted version for the Captial Wasteland, and the native version for the Mojave Wasteland.

FYI for those that don't know: Project Reality FNV doesn't need converting to work with TTW. It was originally called F3NV Project Reality, and for several years it was the only weather mod that worked with Requiem/ BOBW/ TTW.

Oh, I actually just remembered reading that from the FAQ, though it warned that there might be issues. Would you personally recommend the setup I have now, or should I use Project Reality instead?

Also, a little side question. I know what Requiem for the Capital Wasteland is, but, what is BOBW? Did that come after Requiem and before TTW?

BOBW was the very last version of RFCW/ Early version of TTW Prototype. I'd honestly say Go PR over Nskies. It's not as flashy but it also doesn't forget what weather it's supposed to be using.

Like I said, I don't consider lighting mods "weather mods" unless they add actual weather systems like variable cloud cover, rain, snow, storms, etc... I know that last one is just a lighting mod, and I think the first one is as well. I never really understood why the Fallout community considers pure lighting mods to be weather mods.

1.  You are incorrect for URWL TTW.

2.  You are partially correct with Realistic Wasteland Lighting - xCamoLegend is or was going to put weather in the upcoming versions hence the reason I stated work in progress.
