Installing FO3 'fomods' for TTW

Post by DireWulvyn » Thu Feb 13, 2014 6:34 pm

Hey all you bodies!

Just watched 'BelGarions' FO3 to TTW conversion video where he converts FO3s 'Jessi' companion for TTW.

I'm not looking to convert anything [yet], but I do want to use already converted mods for my 1st, brand new TTW install, so this is about extracting/installing FO3 mods.

I saw that he DID NOT use FOMM and the fomod feature to install the mod into his NV directory, but instead did a manual 'drag and drop' installation of the required files, ignoring the included fomod script in the mod package.

So;

1- Can I use FOMM to install FO3 fomods into the NV directory and then 'overwrite/replace' with the TTW conversion data?

OR;

2- Should I extract the mod, remove the required files and repack for install w/o the fomod script, doing a manual installation, then perform any overwrites/replacements for TTW?

OR;

3- Shall I use the "Create from Folder" option in FOMM, extracting the required mod files, repack for install, 'overwrite/replace' pertinent data with the TTW material, then use the "Create from Folder" function to fomod and install the now already TTW converted mod?

[By "repack" I mean an extraction of needed files, and creation of a new "MOD NAME here/Data/all files go here" folder for manual install or "Create from Folder" use]

4- Is there a "best' method from the above, is there yet another method, or have I missed something?

THX peeps

Yes, you can use FOMM to install FO3 Mods in NV's directory. The 4 "best' method would be to download the converted file(s) and the FO3 file(s), use 7zip to open the archive and add the converted file(s) to it - then install with NV FOMM.

THX TJ. Awesome!

love, Love, LOVE the "Create from Folder" fomod function.

Saves so much hassle for mod removals/reinstalls/updates.

Familiar with FOMM use, think I'll stick to it for modding my Fallouts for now.

I am going to experiment with Mod Organizer later, try it out for my Skyrim game. I like the virtual directory aspect.

THX again TJ. You've answered most, if not all of my posts.

Yeah that sounds dirty. I should try to not be so helpful. Wait... when the hell did I become so helpful anyway?
