Help with making leveled lists

Post by Comrade Dispenser » Tue Jul 30, 2013 7:49 am

So I was thinking of installing a lot of weapons and/or armor mods then making leveled lists to add them around the wasteland, both of them.

Then also some stuff along the lines of like of distributing Capital Wasteland raider armor, Pitt Raider armor and Fiend armor evenly around the three raider communities, maybe even doing something like giving Motor Runner a suit of that power armor you get for finding all the ingots at the steel mill, make it non playable so you can't loot it if I figure out how to do that, I just think Motor Runner is too easy to kill. Along with sharing DLC added stuff across all content in general, theres a mod for NV that does this (http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/47880/?) for NV but what if I also wanted to add the Fallout 3 DLC items to the Capital Wasteland and also add NV DLC and Fallout 3 DLCs to the Capital Wasteland and the Mojave Wasteland respectively

Mainly wanting to add:

Light My Flare to the Capital Wasteland, OWB, Lonesome Road and The Pitt

Micalovs Weapon Pack to the Capital Wasteland, The Pitt and Lonesome Road

Classic Fallout Weapons across the CW, The Pitt, OWB, Lonesome Road

The weapons and armor from Project Nevada

The Homemade Weapons Pack to the Raiders of the Capital Wasteland and The Pitt, though this is already in Project Nevada isn't it?

Homemade Laser Rifle among the Raiders of the Capital Wasteland, The Pitt, The Fiends and the Lombotomites of the Big MT

Metro 2033 Duplet to the Raiders of the Capital Wasteland, The Pitt and the Fiends

Homemade PPSH to, you guessed it, the three raiders.

and the STALKER CoP weapons pack across the various DLC and wastelands where it seems appropriate.

Also give these to the wastelanders and sometimes the Talon mercs and other random characters such as security guards of places in CW.

Currently I really don't know what I'm doing, but I have passion and too much free time, I eventually want to make a large thing to make all these mods work together for for TTW. Maybe even as things progress and I figure out what the heck I'm doing I can start adding mods people request and make a big release to combine a lot of different armor and weapons adding mods into proper lists for both wastelands and the DLCs.

There are a lot of NV leveled

There are a lot of NV leveled lists in use in the CW, so Wrye Bash will add stuff from the big weapon packs (and any packs that add weapons to leveled lists themselves) all by it's oncey. You would need to create new lists for CW mobs to use rather than editing current ones in order to prohibit certain groups getting certain weapons.

For more specific equipment additions (ie adding Generic Armor A to Generic Boss Y) iirc it is a relatively simple procedure. Wont even need any hand holding. 10-15 minutes including esm load time max.

Your main difficulty is going to be people only wanting to use 4 out of 5 (or 2/6 or 150/151) of the masters to your mod, and being unable to use it. Single mod patches will increase load order size a bit, but will offer a much broader user base.

Adding mod items to specific mobs sounds nice though. Hope this comes together. Good luck.

Would adding lists for

Post by Comrade Dispenser » Tue Jul 30, 2013 4:16 pm

Would adding lists for specific items, say only integrating Micalovs, or only integrating Classic Fallout Weapons, and making them separate plugins would require scripts to add them to leveled lists in addition to what's already there rather than just replacing the current lists with updated ones?

All the weapons and armor is just added by the Project Nevada Equipment Node, correct?

Perhaps using that with mod specific plug ins, then have a master one that just distributes vanilla items across, like the Raider armor. Also looking over the items, the Tribal Power armor might need a bit of modification to remove the hood and make it only body armor instead of also taking the helmet slot so Motor Runner can still wear his iconic helmet. How would that be done?

Also possibly limiting the Iconoclast armor to just the Pitt raiders given that its specifically a mining suit/hazard suit with modifications not just scrapped together outfits.

personally, i wouldn't worry about that. in my game, raiders have a chance to be wearing pretty much ANY armor, except Power Armors. think about it, if a raiders kill someone wearing Combat Armor, they're going to take and use it, not say "I don't think i'll wear this much more protective armor because it doesn't look right." of course, my edited LL for raiders are weighted so that most of the time they are wearing "raider armor", but other types do show up occasionally. not only does this make things a bit more realistic, IMO, it also makes raiders a little bit more challenging.

as for learning how to do leveled list, check out Diversified Mojave Wasteland. this mod basically does some of what you're wanting to do, mainly with the armors. install it and take a look at it with FNVEdit. you can see how Sepherose handles the LL to do his thing. once you have a grasp on the way he does it, start making your own mod and go crazy

Thinking at first I might

Post by Comrade Dispenser » Tue Jul 30, 2013 7:00 pm

Thinking at first I might just do this with raiders, as thats an easy thing to start off with before getting to other wastelanders, NCR, Legion and whatever. Think maybe giving the raiders some other armors like scattering small quantities of metal armor and combat armor and such around them. Maybe giving the Raider Throwdown and Raider Commando armor stats to reflect that they're cut down suits of metal armor and leather armor respectively.

Maybe like giving Motor Runner some power armor I could put together some more unique armor for Violet, Cook Cook and Driver Nephi, just think those guys need some stuff to make them more unique other than backstory and "go kill em for money" This would be a separate mod from just the spreading the armors and weapons around for more diversity of course.
