Veronica's voice from Dragon age 2....

Post by rockitten » Sun Mar 09, 2014 7:55 pm

Just realized that Veronica in FNV and that Tallis in Dragon age 2 DLC are both voiced by Felicia Day.....and the tone does very similar to Veronica.....

That makes me start wondering is there any legal consequences if I use those DA2 cut scene footages from Youtube as a source of "voice pool" for extra dialog/phrase for making a mod for Veronica?

Using other content from other games is almost always illegal.

According Bethesda you aren't allowed to release a mod which contains content of another game. That's why TTW uses the installer. So to answer your question yes you could face legal consequences. Nexus ban would be happen very fast and here you also aren't allowed to release that.

EA btw. is even more strict then Bethesda (they actually don't like modmakers) so be careful.

Your method would be even more illegal ripping voices from videos. It simply means that you don't even have the game itself.

It's not recommended. Though not techinically illegal under the letter of US law - for a proper copyright violation, one must cause financial damage to the party they're infringing, and be seeking to profit themselves. However, this will not stop them from hauling you into court if the mood strikes and you will not have the financial resources for your lawyers to make a fair use case.

Additionally, simply because the threat is there, it can't be hosted on the Nexus or here.

I see, then there is no point to make the mod voiced then.

BTW, after hours of trying, I finally managed to make my first mod that doesn't crash: making Veronica has an alice body (to suit her tomboyish style rather than a huge rack from BNB ). A small mod for the game, a big step for moddingyes

Although, if you hadn't started a thread like this, I doubt anyone would have ever noticed if you used content from another game.  Just sayin'  ...

Well, I actually do have the DA2 and DLC myself, but I know it too well in TTW that what's the legal consequences of exporting material from another game into another game, that's why I wonder if using those cut scene on YouTube can be a  grey area bypass.

Now I know that probably won't work.
