Thanks, Lord Humungus.

Thanks, Lord Humungus. wink

I want to blur the divide between interior and exterior space. The old world, associated with the engineering feat of enclosing such a large area now giving way to nature and the open sky.

This was a productive weekend. Some in-game shots of the exterior:

Working on these worldspaces will be ongoing. This frees up time to spend on Union Pacific station in Vegas.

It's big.

FOV was increased to 90, so it may appear larger than it is. Even then, it may be necessary to create some LOD models for it anyway. That, or find a clever and unobtrusive way of enclosing the space around the building. There's only one way to find out.

A small download size is my priority - but I'm glad the building gives the opposite impression :)

For the past few days I've been building the world for the station in DC. It has been fun not having to think about any new meshwork. Here is an overhead shot of the station in the GECK next to an aerial (or satellite?) photo of the same:

The DC world - accessed via the metro which links to the metro entrance in the NW corner of the mall - will contain a small park to the South - Lower Senate park - and as many named streets as there are in RL, at least those which radiate out from the red brick plaza. It should make for an interesting mix of natural and urban space, in a wide-open area like what's seen in the Mall. (I usually don't like taking overhead shots in the GECK because they don't depict what things look like on the ground, but it turns out that the DC worldspace covers an area that's about 5x5 cells.)

Meanwhile, I'm working on the last bits of detail for the station in Vegas before creating UVs and 'falloutifying' the whole thing. Some early alpha screens:

Tricky you are one of the best world designers i've seen! That overhead shot of the DC station/world , it blew me away with how accurate it was. Keep up the good work man.

This is beyond anything I thought was possible for the transit method. That world space is incredible and that NV station looks as accurate as it could be from that picture. This will be a surprising crown jewel to TTW.

And one question. Where do you plan to put LV station?

Good question. The real life pacific union station in Vegas was demolished in the 60s to make way for The Plaza hotel and casino which is located at the end of Freemont St.

So somewhere in Freeside on the world map but in its own worldspace. I hope to start working on it soon.
