Faction Pets

Post by Senterpat » Tue Aug 19, 2014 12:08 am

Currently working on a feature for my mod that lets "pets" spawn with the NPCs, usually geared towards combat. I have used resources or made custom moels/textures for all the creatures. So far the pets I have included are:

NCR: Armored Dogs

Legion: Mongrels

Enclave: Deathclaws, armored deathclaws, cyberdogs, roboscorpions, radroaches(used by the enclave to gather intel on the wasteland, killing one may result in an enclave attack) Robot variants, super mutants

BOS: Roboscorpion, robot variants

Outcast: Roboscorpion, robot variants

Raiders/vipers/fiends etc: vicious dogs

Super mutants: centaurs, floaters, lurkers(new thing)

Settlements: Smaller animals like cats and dogs

I'm drawing a blank on the legion, I feel like they should have a larger variety of creatures, since they are all old school. But it'd have to be animals they could train or control, without the enclaves tech. I can use cibs minotaur resource, but that may be going a bit over the top. Then again maybe not, after all, fallout has other creatures spliced together, why not human and bighorner? Looking for any other ideas from you guys.

This sounds pretty cool, although the Roboscorpions seem a little far fetched to be in dc. An Idea for NCR or Legion could be a mutated or non-mutanted horse. Maybe even have riders that can shoot of of them or one of those roman chariots latched to some for centurions.

Can't have horses :( Wanted

Post by Senterpat » Tue Aug 19, 2014 1:34 am

Can't have horses :( Wanted to but lore says they are extinct. Though there is a mod that makes a number of critters rideable, so they could ride other animals into battle.

I thought bighorners would make a decent legion attack animal, alter the mesh a bit and maybe throw some armor on them.

Also monkeys have been used in warfare before, mostly to cause chaos, but there are some monkey models out there.

What other factions besides the enclave do you think would use cyberdogs?

Why not scorpions (rad and bark) for the Legion?

Seems like the followers

Seems like the followers would have normal pets, dogs, maybe cats. What other pets do you think they would keep? They don't seem really combat based.

I dunno, seems like they would be hard to train (radscorpions), i don't think they are very intelligent are they? Though it would be pretty awesome to see them riding them... if possible that is. I have a desert and black scorpion variants, with extra barbs all up on em, may some armor on the tail or something if I do...

I also have several new critters that could be considered, 1 headed brahmin longhorns, boars, cats (i could probably make a bobcat model), super mutants, 2 headed dogs, wanamingos, mutated humans (super mutant sized, will probably end up with raiders), wolves, bears.

For the raiders I was thinking a fun one would be a booby trapped radroach, or maybe a dog or feral cat that explodes when the player gets close.

I don't know about cats, Mr House says they were extinct in 2281, but I really don't know if that is lore or not.

Also it doesn't really matter how they do it, maybe the legion uses some kind of drug made from some plants to control the scorpions, or maybe they cover themselves in some weird smell from the scorpions, pheromones and stuff cheeky they are resourceful and smart.

There was that one doctor in Fallout 2 who trained a scorpion. So it can be done.

Kewl, I'll probably end up

Post by Senterpat » Tue Aug 19, 2014 5:14 am

Kewl, I'll probably end up using them as a legion pet then. The Legion is does use some tech, but I'll probably just leave it up to the players imagination on how they are controlled. I doubt many will question it anyways :p. What about night stalkers?

Just realized you were saying the followers should use cyberdogs, I agree, that would probably fit well. Or a different armored dog.

Legion could have Gecko's.

Post by RoyBatty » Tue Aug 19, 2014 5:31 am

Legion could have Gecko's. They already exhibit some self aware behavior, and could likely be trained. Seems more like something they would have rather than rad scorps.

For pets, cats and dogs sure, why not rats and birds too?
