I intend to install Project Nevada as well as TTW, but what order?

Post by Leet » Fri Jul 19, 2013 3:45 pm

Hello,

Hello, I plan to install Project Nevada as well as TTW, however I do not know much about how to install mods into Fallout: New Vegas. I might also install "skill based perks".

What order should I install the mods? Is there anything I need to be aware of?

TTW is installed first. No

TTW is installed first. No ifs, buts or maybes. Other than that, the only issue that comes close to "install order" is the overwriting of resources, which any mod manager will warn you about, and help you prevent it unless desired.

Familiarity with the mods you are installing is vital, as other people with exactly the same mods may want one mod's set of data to overwrite the other, while you might want it the other way around.

As for PN specifically, I would suggest skipping the Equipment module. Its nice and all, but creates a few duplicate weapons.

Make sure you make a bashed and/or merged patch if you have multiple mods editing the same thing (ie leveled lists, npcs, etc)

Thanks plum!

TTW seems to be working properly. However, Project Nevada recommends I use FOMM rather than NMM (The one I'm using). Should it still work with NMM?

Also, I've extracted the latest NVSE files (.exe and .dll only) into the game folder (but not the SRC files), but when I type "GetNVSEVersion" into the console, it does not work. Instead I get:

SCRIPTS: Script 'SysWindowCompileAndRun', line 1:

Script command "GetNVSEVersion" not found.

When I try launching the game through the NVSE launcher, it does not load the "Tale of Two Wastelands" message on the menu.

Also, side note - I've also enabled TTW_NoKarmaDCFollowers.esp, TTW_Bobbleheads.esp and TTW_StashPackOptions.esp. Is there a required order for them?

To use NVSE, the game must be run by executing nvse_loader.exe. [/quote]

I have tried this, but even then typing "GetNVSEVersion" into the console still doesn't work.

Using the nvse_loader means that TTW is disabled from what I can tell. :/

NVSE and ttw do not interact.

NVSE and ttw do not interact. Even if they did, installing nvse would not stop TTW from loading. Did you extract all 4 dll's for nvse?

As for FOMM vs NMM, it's a matter of personal preference. You can even use both if you do it right. I use NMM myself (except for my currently trashed Oblivion install, which is mostly BAIN) because it's got a DL manager and I'm super lazy.

The problem was that he created a new Tale Of Two Wastelands folder in his steam folder and tried to install to that, not realizing that Fallout New Vegas doesn't support having multiple simultaneous installs.

Yeah, thanks Jax. I will

Yeah, thanks Jax. I will reinstall New Vegas and TTW using these instructions:

"Run the installer and where it says TTW location, point it to a temp folder on your desktop

And tell it to go

When it is done, the folder on your desktop will contain all the necessary TTW files

Then you just copy those into your unmodded Fallout New Vegas directory

Make sure it is the steamapps/common/fallout new vegas folder"

I'll let you guys know if it works.

Time to worry about the other mods required for Project Nevada.

Project Nevada's max level

Post by Leet » Mon Jul 22, 2013 1:47 pm

Project Nevada's max level cap is 50 (and I cannot increase it further to 60). Are there any solutions to increasing it back to 60? Anyone know where the file is to manually edit it?

Also, I can't find an option to disable food quality. :(

Does anyone know if there's a 3GB launcher for NV? My computer only has 4GB's of RAM and I'm not sure if the 4GB launcher would work well for me.

there is no 3GB launcher. the 4GB allows FNV to access system memory greater than 2GB, which is an inherent limitation of 32-bit native software.

just use the 4GB launcher. without it, most of your  RAM will not be accessible to FNV. you'll be fine
