I used NMC texture pack New Vegas before and also for Fallout 3, but I'm wondering if it would cause any problems with TTW?
I don't want to create any problems within the game. So would I only use one for New Vegas, or would I use both?

Install the FO3 version and then install the FNV version on top of it. Works pefectly.
I think you just need the NV version. For some reason, if you install the NV pack, then go to the F3 pack mod page on the nexus, and compare the 'Train In Metro' and 'train Tunnel Whitewashed Brick Wall' uploaded pictures to the ones in your game, you will see that you have those (exclusively) F3 textures already in there.
NMC actually told me to just use the NV pack himself, ages ago.
I'm pretty sure I end up with more textures when I install them both as opposed to using only the New Vegas pack. But I could be wrong. I guess if you want to be safe make sure to install the Fallout 3 pack too.
I installed both first NMC for FO3 then NMC for NV. to make sure I had all textures covered, Don't know for sure if it was necessary but, couldn't hurt.
something you should think about when installing NMC's Textures,
1. Use the GECK to create a blank NMC's.esp (Just open FNV.esm in the GECK and save!)
2. Download and, install BSAopt,
3, Unpack NMC's Textrues to a temp folder that has the same name as the blank .esp that you created in the GECK.
4. Use BSAopt to pack all the textures in said temp folder into a .bsa.
5. drop new NMC's .BSA into your game activate NMC.esp with FOMM and, Or, NMM and, archive invalidate.
this way your game folder is clean, You have all of NMC's textures and, can turn them off by simply deactivating the one NMC.esp.
Hope this helps.
All right I'll give this a shot. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again.
Chucksteel - I followed your steps that you listed above to create the esp / bsa for NMC's textures and I think I got some strange results.
I used the NMC's Small textures for FNV and when they uncompressed into my empty folder, it came out to be 1.93 GBs in size. But after I created the .bsa file, it only came out to be 248k. I did it three times and made sure that all of the files were selected in the BSAopt program. But there is no way that is the right .bsa size ... or is it?
So I then take the esp and bsa files and drop them into my Data folder and then activate them via NMM. Am I done? Or do I need to take the NMC folder with all of the uncompressed textures and put it in my Data folder as well? 1.93 GBs to less than 250k can't have compress all of the textures in it - right?
Just a little confused as to if I did this right or not.
Thanks for your time,
TB
I'm not Chuck but let me try. I've installed this on about five different computers, and have had no issues with TTW.
Go ahead and pick which one you are going to use: Large, Lite, Performance. The Large package has 5 different files to download. Lite and Performance each have 2. Download these to a new, clean folder; ex: NMC Textures FO3.
When the downloads have finished, you should either have 5 files, or 2 files. (Large has parts 1 - 5) (Lite/Performance has 1 - 2)
THIS IS IMPORTANT, extract ONLY from part 1. Do NOT extract both and do NOT extract part 2. It will be extracted with part 1. Now extract your files to the clean folder that you downloaded to. When finished extracting you should have your rar files, and either a Data folder or a Textures folder.
Merge either Data or Textures with the folder in your game data location. Usually (c:) Program Files [or Program Files (x86)] / Steam [or Bethesda Softworks] / Fallout New Vegas / Data.
If you're adding the NMC texture pack for New Vegas, the steps will only differ a little.
Large package still has 5 files. Medium package has 3 files. Small package has 2 files.
Again, download to a new, clean folder. Mine is named NMC Textures FNV.
Extract from PART 1 ONLY.
When extraction finishes, you should have the rar files, and a Data or Textures folder
Merge the Data or Textures folder with your game data in the location mentioned for the Fallout 3 textures above.
If you are using TTW, (which you should be, I mean you're here so....) Both texture packages you downloaded and extracted (both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas) should be merged into your New Vegas game directory.
Oh and if you have already installed these and feel you haven't done it right, go ahead and run the NMC uninstaller and just follow the steps above. If you get stuck let us know.
Awesome - thanks for quickly getting back to me.
Yep, it looks like I did the steps correctly (extracting only the first zip, etc) and the 248k .bsa is actually correct (at least I think so).
It looks like the only thing I didn't do was to merge the extracted NMC directory (that contains the Data and/or Textures folders from the zips) into my FNV Data folder. But just to be sure, you want me to merge these files directly into my existing Data directly allowing the new textures to overwrite any existing textures - correct?
Just trying to understand how this process is actually different/better than just using NMM to install them directly. I mean, this process has a .esp that you can turn on/off but the actual texture files are always going to be in place (and have overwritten the original ones) regardless of the .esp being used or not.
Or are you saying to move my C:\NMC (extracted folder) into my Data folder thus having a new Data\NMC directory? Now if this is the case, I can definitely see where the benefit is in going this route because the new textures would remain separated from the original ones and would only be used when the .esp is called.
Sorry for all of the questions - and very thankful for all of the help.
