@Jax

Which version of NVEC are you patching?

I'd like to request you choose the most inclusive version, NVEC Complete+NVCE.  It contains all of the NVEC files for Reduce CTD and the Bugfixes, as well as all of the Enhancements and the New Vegas Character Expansions. Please include any needed changes to NVEC's optional Nordic Firearms content as well. If I can help in any way with this conversion, please let me know.

I agree with Befo, that would be the best version to patch :)

I would not use Performance

Post by KeltecRFB » Sat Mar 08, 2014 5:35 pm

I would not use Performance of the Gods unless you tweak it for TTW or only use it in the New Vegas; it does not work with TTW by downloading it fresh from NV Nexus.  As for Better Game Performance v5, again I would not use that unless you tweak it for TTW or only in New Vegas.  The author states that it removes objects not used by the game which probably means FO3 assets not used in FONV.  Instead, use Clean-Deluxe ttw merge (and Fallout New Vegas Optimize after you read the instructions carefully and makes changes according to your system.  There is a bug in Clean-Deluxe that will cause a CTD until fixed which I just recently reminded the author and he stated he forgot about it and is adding it to his task list (as of 3/7/2014).  However the problem can be avoided and it sounds like it is only an inconvenience and not a major game plot changer.

Don't use that INI file from Fallout New Vegas Optimized, that will make you starts in FNV rather than Vault 101.

However, you can use that instruction to modify YOUR OWN fallout.ini instead.

By the way, if we optimize the fallout.ini to 8G of ram, does 4GB Loader Fallout New Vegas still necessary?

I think you still do because of the game engine.  The alternative to 4 GB would be ENB.

One tool/trick that has not

Post by jaassu » Sat Mar 08, 2014 7:28 pm

One tool/trick that has not been mentioned and which i have been using is xcopy.

When using all hires textures from everywhere like i do, xcopy is the most useful when combined with Optimizer Textures(Ordenator).

Well, what the xcopy can do then ?

It can copy all ' *_n.dds ' files and dirctories from your fallout installation to the another directory.

Then you can run Optimizer Textures(Ordenator) and select option 'Resize down' and sub-option 'All', also Resize patterns should be 16x16.

Then you have all your normal maps resized down and saved gigabytes of disk and ram space and still can use all hires textures which you have installed.

@Befo It's not true that MMUE

It's not true  that MMUE is bug fixes only, they altered a lot of content.  If you only want bug fixes then use YUP.

Some other good utilities are NVAC and Zan AutoPurge Crash Protector.

ENB Users, don't forget you

Post by KeltecRFB » Wed Mar 12, 2014 6:01 pm

ENB Users, don't forget you can configure ENB to do the same thing as accomplished with Fake Fullscreen or Game Campanion by changing forcedborderless = false to true.  One more less mod or program to worry about and this change can be made in enblocal.ini.
