Combat tactics related mod

Post by cjb135691 » Sun May 12, 2013 6:17 pm

Does anybody know of any mods that are available that would provide tactics similar to a FPS. Such as i've been looking for something that that could possibly provide the ability to hide behind objects and lean out to engage enemies so that i'm not taking a bunch of hits in the process. Yeah, i know taking tons of hits is what a RPG is all about and likely i'll never find anything that could change that. But i just thought i'd check.

I am going to do this

I am going to do this politely as possible.

Both recent fallout games have the option to hide behind cover, that is, terrain stops bullet momentum. What they do not have is a system in place that lets you facehug a chest high wall for invulnerability.

Regardless of the balance issues in a (gun based) firefight, there are many enemies who are melee based, splash energy weapons, and an explosives system that almost entirely ignores building walls. (I have had my legs crippled whilst firing a nuke at the behemoth near gnr whilst clearly being shielded from the brunt of the shockwave)

The game engine itself, without some serious modification (and I refer to things that are so-called hardcoded, not playr made geck mods) is not capable of providing a generic, cover-based, turbo health-regening, no input required, "realistic", rail-shooter.

That said, leaning might be nice, but I think runs into camera issues, and while it might be conceivable to create "cover" by using chair objects (and then applying a dr bonus), I'm pretty sure animating it would be a hassle, as would the mechanics of shooting.
