[WIP] Spaceship Home

Post by korodic » Wed Jun 18, 2014 3:42 am

Well after I discovered Risewild was already working on a submarine player home I decided to take a shot at building a spaceship. That's right, a god damn spaceship.

I'm trying to create a few related quests with it too. Just wanted to share some of my progress. This home will be very functional and was specifically made for TTW. If anyone is willing to do voice acting and has a decent mic I may need you! Just let me know if you're interested.

Planned features:

[-] Travel methods between wastelands and landmass DLC areas.

[X] Travel to Capital Wasteland

[X] Travel to Mojave Wasteland

[X] Travel to Point Lookout

[X] Travel to Zion Canyon

[X] Travel to The Pitt

[X] Travel to Big MT

[-] Personal Teleport - Teleport to the ship from anywhere, as long as you're outside and not in combat.

[X] Brew coffee. COFFEEEEEEE.

[-] Sanitize food (maybe).

[X] Proper storage facilities.

[X] Shooting range.

[X] Storage area w/ sorting

[X] Quest to obtain ship.

[X] Quest to make ship more livable.

This mod now requires user's to download the sortomatic for New Vegas, this tool was a great time saver with more functionalities than I would have added otherwise.

The mod is now available to download for anyone who is willing to look at it and provide feedback. I'd consider it to be BETA at the moment.

Mod has been released. I received no beta feedback! :(] If you find a bug let me know.

That looks awesome and hilarious at the same time, just like a proper part of any fallout game yes.

Also I still say go for the Submarine house too, I have problems with finishing projects and I can foresee that if I ever manage to do this submarine house it will take a looooong time, specially because I am also doing stuff for my book mod from time to time and started a new project just yesterday that is taking most of my modding time at the moment (which is not even much to begin with in the next few days).

PS: Can't wait to see your Spaceship complete, I always wanted a space house of some sort laugh.

You know, you could combine the two for an "airship" home as well. We have a "Rapture" mod now we need one for "Columbia".

Anyway. Pics look good. I can't mod (other than simple tweaks, still in learning curve). But I can write pretty good and could do some voice work depending on character. I wrote the description page for Gribs Suicide Booth, and have a few other samples if you'd like (Going to Full Sail for BFA in Creative Writing).

IF I can and have the time I'll help if you'd like.

Due to the size of the ship and stuff on board I think I may have to section it off by the decks. Since the most used areas will be the middle and top floor I don't think it'll matter much. Though I liked not having to do multiple load screens. As seen in the picture occlusion planes between floors I added still didn't help the noticeable frame drops.

I have updated some of the objectives in the OP. Please let me know if there are any DLC locations I may have missed that offer a decently-sized, explore-able land mass! I havent played in awhile, so you may know better than I.

Try using room bounds instead. They do much better culling of unseen items. Here's a tutorial on how to use them if you don't know.http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php?title=Bethsoft_Tutorial_Optimization

At the risk of asking an overly obvious question, why start from scratch (and need to implement quest, etc), rather than expand MZ?

I did see that as an option but unfortunately I never used it before and remember room bounds causing issues with some interior spaces in Skyrim, so I skipped it entirely when trying to optimize these interiors. I already made the changes to separate the spaces, but it's not too bad since the middeck and upper deck are the only two most people will care about.

The spaces themselves as of right now are done and good to go. Just minor details and quests need to be created. No one will be home tomorrow so I can record the dialog finally :D
